With Valorant's new map Corrode being released on June 25, 2025, as part of Valorant's Season 2025 Act 4, it's important that players start learning it. After all, Corrode will be one of the maps that shape the competitive map pool.

To make it easier for you to learn Corrode, we have gathered important information about the map's lore, shape, and impact on the competitive playlist so you're ready for it!

Corrode is located in the north of France

Corrode location

Corrode is Valorant's fourth map located in Europe. Before Corrode, the only European maps in Valorant were Abyss, Pearl, and Ascent, which are located in Norway, Portugal, and Italy, respectively.

Corrode is a village where most of its inhabitants are miners. The houses in the village are covered by a purple layer of radianite salt. For those unaware, radianite is extremely important in Valorant. In fact, we're sure you have some, as that's what players use to upgrade their skins!

While playing the map, players will see various elements related to the lore behind Corrode. They will see boxes, trucks, and even radianite ingots, which are logically part of the village's mining history.

Finally, it's important to mention that Corrode is the biggest map released to Valorant. It has a lot of details and hidden easter eggs, so we encourage you to spend some time looking for them!

Corrode has plenty of corners

One of Corrode's main characteristics as a map is the high amount of corridors and corners that players can use. This means that defenders could have the upper hand and shotguns can result very effective. In fact, the first-ever Corridor ace was performed with a Judge!

Certainly, memorizing all of the spots, corners, and calls is no easy task. However, Riot Games is bringing a new feature for players who will hop to the competitive map pool before completely learning Corrode.

Corrode's RR losses reduced by 50% in the first two weeks after its release

Corrode's RR losses will be split by half in the first two weeks after the map is deployed in the game's competitive map pool. This measure has been implemented because Riot Games understands it's not fair for players to lose the same RR on a brand-new map than on a map that has been in the game for years.

Throughout these initial two weeks, players should have enough time to learn and understand the map. After the first fortnight of Season 2025 Act 4, the RR losses on Corrode will go back to normal.

Corrode is full of soft walls

Although Valorant has no map destructibility potential, Riot Games' walls are divided into soft and hard walls. For those unaware, soft walls are those that can be penetrated by bullets, while hard walls are those that can't.

It's easy to tell if a wall is soft or hard by checking the whole left by the bullet; if it's black, it means the bullet has gone through the wall whereas if it isn't, it means the bullet hasn't made it through it.

Apparently, Valorant's Corrode is full of soft walls. While players haven't had full access to the map yet, content creators who have had early access to it have already shared their initial impressions, and some of them have paid special attention to the walls.

In the video shared above, posted by the Japanese commentator and analyst Takayuki "Retloff" Fujioka, he uses an Odin to demonstrate how many soft walls can be found in Corrode. This can be found in both of Corrode's bomb sites, as well as in mid and he other two lanes.

With Corrode having so many soft walls, this means that intel-gathering agents like Sova, Cypher, Fade, Tejo, or Skye, as well as high-penetration weapons like the Guardian, the Odin, and the Operator will be extremely important in Corrode. Not to mention, post plants are going to be a nightmare for defenders!

Corrode's calls

Last but definitely not least, players must learn Corrode's calls as soon as possible. These shouldn't be difficult to memorize, as this is vocabulary that players use in all the other maps. You should be familiarized with the terms heaven, elbow, top, window, main, pocket, among others!

Remember that Valorant is a game where communication is crucial to win your matches. Therefore, learning the calls of all the maps in the game, at least the competitive maps, is crucial. We hope you do so when Corrode is released!
