Bungie just revealed Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate. Amid the hype surrounding the reveal of their upcoming extraction shooter Marathon, the developers don't want to feel the D2 community is being abandoned.

2025 is going to be a year of massive changes for Destiny 2 as a live-service title. Now that the Light and Darkness saga is over, Bungie is moving away from one big yearly expansion. Instead, the developer is promising two smaller ones to keep the content ball rolling more consistently.

The new era is dubbed Codename: Frontiers and The Edge of Fate is the first chapter on it. So, with that said, let's break down everything we know about it.

Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate release date and content

So far, we don't have a proper release date set in stone for The Edge of Fate, but we do know it's coming at some point in the summer. Back in September, Bungie unveiled their plans for Codename: Frontiers, revealing two expansions: Apollo and Behemoth.

The way it was broken down was this: each expansion will bring new story content, locations, missions, gear, and more. Everything you've come to expect from a Destiny 2 DLC.

Then, each expansion will have two major updates. For The Edge of Fate, these are called Arsenal and Surge. One will be released in the summer and one in the fall. These will bring new and reprised activities, artifact mods, sandbox changes, and more.

Finally, each major update will come with a rewards pass. It's a big departure from the Episodes format that only lasted a year and featured three content drops (Episodes) split into three stages (Acts) with a single season pass covering the fourth-month period each Episode lasted.

Is Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate part of Codename: Frontiers?

Yes, in fact, Bungie has confirmed that The Edge of Fate is the official name of Codename: Apollo.

Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate reveal stream date

Bungie confirmed on April 15 that the full reveal for The Edge of Fate will happen on May 6. Yes, as you might have guessed, that is a Tuesday. Expect a proper look at a new location, weapons, and a release date to be shown.

Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate cost

Now, it's unclear what the price for this new expansion will be. Considering it's a smaller one compared to previous yearly Destiny 2 DLCs, fans are expecting a lower price as well.

Free-to-play isn't completely discarded but don't get your hopes up. Especially considering not even Marathon will launch as a free-to-play experience.

And that's all we know about Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate. As more information comes out we'll be updating this article accordingly.
