Team Liquid has unveiled the organization’s decision to part ways with the players Luccas “Paluh” Molina and Lorenzo “Lagonis” Volpi as well as the coach Vitor “hugzord” Hugo.

The roster’s most shocking departure is the exit of Paluh as the Brazilian had been part of the Blue Cavalry for over six years, since November 2018. Meanwhile, Lagonis had joined the team in September 2022, shortly after Team Liquid missed out on the Six Berlin Major. Last but not least, Team Liquid is also making staff changes as they have parted ways with Hugzord, who had joined the squad in March 2022.

Looking at Team Liquid’s results during the current decade, it’s hard to see the Blue Cavalry’s project as a failure. Despite lacking international silverware, the Brazilians have earned over USD$2M with the team’s most notable performances coming at the Six Invitational 2021, the Six Jönköping Major, the BLAST R6 Major Copenhagen, and the Esports World Cup 2024.

However, after all, trophies and glory is what truly matters; and Team Liquid lacks them. Since Liquid’s Pro League Season 7 Finals win in May 2018, four other Brazilian sides have become international champions including Ninjas in Pyjamas, w7m esports, FaZe Clan, and Team oNe, with the initial three having lifted the Six Invitational hammer once each.

Inevitably, Boston was the time to make difficult decisions as it was the third consecutive time Team Liquid finished outside the Six Invitational Top 12. Although the departures have been revealed, Team Liquid has yet to unveil what players will fill the spots.
