The leaks were true, and Jean Grey will be coming to Marvel Rivals Season 3, going by her Phoenix persona. Jean has always been a fan-favorite in X-Men media, so seeing her play a key role in this season is pretty exciting. Now that Phoenix has been officially confirmed, it won’t be long before fans get their hands on this character.

Phoenix will be one of the two new heroes in Rivals Season 3, with Blade also confirmed after being teased over the last two seasons. Admittedly, the character has been playable in various games before, including the X-Men Legends and Ultimate Alliance titles. Still, we’re excited to see how NetEase handles this fan-favorite X-Men character.

When will Phoenix be available in Marvel Rivals?

Jean will be the first hero added in Marvel Rivals Season 3 and will be immediately available on July 11.

It’s somewhat amusing to see Phoenix be the first playable character this season, especially since Blade has been teased for much longer. Still, she is arguably the more interesting character, and we can’t wait to see how she controls. Based on what we’ve seen so far, we won’t be surprised if she quickly dominates the battlefield.

What is Phoenix's role in Marvel Rivals?

The Phoenix will be part of the Duelist heroes, joining the most crowded role of the game. The decision couldn't be more accurate as the mutant is one of the most powerful X-Men characters, making her a menace.

What are Phoenix's abilities in Marvel Rivals?

NetEase Games released a short gameplay showcase of Jean, showing that she will be a powerful long-ranged fighter.

The short gameplay showcase has Jean throwing plenty of fire attacks that are a bit more explosive than Human Torch’s. Since she’s mostly on the ground, Jean will need to aim well and stay far away in order to survive against her fellow Rivals. Her attacks seem to do a ton of damage, even spreading to other enemies if players are lucky enough.

If her long-range attacks weren’t enough, Jean can also dodge enemy attacks right away, giving her a short chance to escape. Jean can also briefly levitate and head to higher areas for a more distinct advantage against her foes. She also has enough range to fight flying enemies, which should make her very useful.

Lastly, her ultimate attack has her use the full might of the Phoenix Force to come crashing down on a group of enemies. Players will control this from the first-person, so aim well and try to take out as many heroes and villains as possible. We expect this move to do a ton of damage and be very annoying to those who fall victim to it.
