Leaks for Marvel Rivals suggest that the popular X-Men character Jean Grey is finally coming to the game. Also known as Phoenix, she’s been one of the most requested characters since the game was announced. With Emma Frost already in the roster, showing off her signature psychic powers and Diamond Form, it feels like the perfect time for someone even more powerful to arrive.

Jean Grey is no stranger to Marvel’s long history of video games. She’s appeared in titles like X-Men Legends and Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and her presence has continued to resonate with fans over the years. That popularity explains why so many players have been asking for her. It’ll be exciting to see how she plays once her reveal becomes official.

When is Jean Grey coming out for Marvel Rivals?

According to X0X_Leak, a well-known Marvel Rivals leaker on X (formerly Twitter), Jean Grey is set to arrive this July 11 for Marvel Rivals Season 3.

There’s already a solid X-Men lineup in the game, so her absence so far hasn’t been a dealbreaker. Characters like Psylocke, Emma Frost, and Magik have helped fill the gap, but that won’t hold fans over for long. If the leaks are accurate, players can expect to see Jean Grey in action within the next few days.

Abilities

Jean Grey’s abilities were first leaked during an earlier wave of information. Her kit reportedly includes Phoenix Shadow and Phoenix Ray. While their exact functions remain unclear, the names suggest she could be a mid-range combat specialist, using her psychic powers to control space, somewhat like Scarlet Witch.

She also has abilities called Telekinetic Transfer and Psychokinetic Transfer. One Twitter user speculated that these could introduce a “Switch” mechanic, similar to Cloak & Dagger, letting players toggle between Jean Grey and her Phoenix form.

Gameplay

No concrete gameplay footage has been leaked yet, but fans are already confident she’ll be a powerful addition to the Marvel Rivals roster. In the comics, Jean usually plays a support role, so it’s unclear if she’ll be classified as a Strategist or Duelist. Given her range of abilities, she might even be a hybrid of both.

Since she’s an X-Men mainstay, we’re expecting team-up attacks with Wolverine and Storm. As a powerful telepath, she could also have synergy with Emma Frost. And if NetEase Games wants to get creative, there’s potential for combinations with characters like Magneto or even Namor.
