The Human Torch is one of the new characters coming in Season 1 of Marvel Rivals alongside The Thing. The two characters are the only Fantastic Four members missing from the game after Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) and Sue Storm (Invisible Woman) were added at the start of the season.
Now that his release date has been confirmed, here is everything we know about the character from both official sources and leaks.
Release date
Johnny Storm (The Human Torch) is scheduled to come out on Friday, February 21st, the same day the Season 1 midseason patch drops.
The update will go live at midnight PT (8:00 AM GMT) and the developers haven't revealed if there will be a downtime period before the release.
Abilities
RivalsLeaks was able to confirm the Human Torch’s abilities in Marvel Rivals. Here is what the character can do in the game:
- Fire Cluster: The Human Torch’s basic range attack, launches a fireball that can be split in half
- Omega Fire: A team-up ability with Storm, releases a giant tornado of fire to the opposing team
- Supernova: Unleashes fire shockwaves to deal damage to nearby enemies, turns flame fields into fire tornadoes
- Plasma Body: Enters a state of accelerated ascent while flying
- Pyro Prison: Connects various flame fields and forms a fire wall
- Flaming Meteor: Human Torch dives down and damages nearby enemies
- Blazing Blast: Launches a fireball that makes damaging flame fields
Role
We still don’t know what kind of role Human Torch will have in Marvel Rivals. Based on his long-range attacks, he could be an interesting Duelist or Vanguard, the latter being a lot more likely. It will be interesting to see just how useful he is in the game, especially compared to Jeff the Landshark.
