The Esports World Cup is the biggest esports event of the year as between July and August Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, hosts over 25 competitions awarding teams and players over USD$70M in prize pool money.
Including FPS, MOBAs, fighting, sport titles, and even chess, the Esports World Cup offers unlimited options for viewers who are not just simply into video games but competition.
While fans will likely exclusively follow the performances of their favorite teams or the action in the competitions of their preferred titles, it's important to look at the bigger picture. In the Esports World Cup, that's the Club Championship.
The Club Championship is arguably the biggest reason for teams to invest in the esports scene of the majority of the video games included in the Esports World Cup, and here's why.
What's the EWC Club Championship?
The Esports World Cup Club Championship is a combination of competitions open to all teams in the Esports World Cup and it has a prize pool of USD$27M. In other words, over a third of the Esports World Cup total prize pool is located in the EWC Club Championship.

To climb up the standings of the EWC Club Championship, esports organizations must earn EWC Club Points. These are awarded to the best eight teams in each esports competition.
By the end of the Esports World Cup 2025, the 24 highest-placed teams on the EWC Club Championship will earn a cut of the USD$27M prize pool.
In order to be eligible to win the EWC Club Championship a team must win at least one Esports World Cup tournament. Therefore, if a team somehow manages to top the standings with multiple second-place finishes but doesn't win a single edition, the team in question won't be able to win the EWC Club Championship.
How to earn EWC Club Points?
The best eight teams from each Esports World Cup competition will be awarded with EWC Club Points. Here's how EWC Club Points are distributed in the majority of competitions:
- 1st: 1,000 EWC Club Points
- 2nd: 750 EWC Club Points
- 3rd: 500 EWC Club Points
- 4th: 300 EWC Club Points
- 5th to 8th: 200 EWC Club Points
Logically, for a team to finish high on the EWC Club Championship standings, a combination of presence and positive results is needed. For instance, an esports organization with only a handful of rosters in the Esports World Cup is very unlikely to do well on the standings. At the same time, an esports organization with over ten teams in the Esports World Cup will not necessarily do well as those teams will need to collect decent results and at least a win to be eligible to finish at the top of the EWC Championship Standings. Finding the balance between presence and results is key.

Teams

As previously mentioned, all teams competing in the Esports World Cup 2025 are eligible to take part in the Esports World Cup 2025 Club Championship Standings.
However, as the Esports World Cup 2025 is kicking off later this week, we can already build a picture of what teams should be favorites to win or at least do well on the Esports World Cup 2025 Club Championship Standings.
Team Falcons
The Esports World Cup 2024 Club Championship winners Team Falcons are the favorites to do it again this year as the Saudi Arabian powerhouse has already got 18 confirmed lineups to compete in the Esports World Cup. The number is likely to get slightly bigger in the upcoming weeks.
Team Liquid
Although Team Liquid finished in second place in the Esports World Cup 2024 Club Championship, the Blue Cavalry's total point tally (2,545) was closer to the third (Team BDS, 2,000) than to Team Falcons (5,665).
However, the esports powerhouse is undoubtedly one of the favorites to win this year's edition as they have already confirmed 11 lineups to be competing in the Esports World Cup 2025.
Team Vitality
Last year, Team Vitality finished in fourth place — and this year, the Bees could finish even higher. The French powerhouse should do very well in titles like CounterStrike 2 and Rocket League, and other decent performances in other titles would slightly improve the team's position.
Other esports organizations like Natus Vincere, All Gamers, Gen.G Esports, or G2 Esports should also be mentioned.
As soon as the Esports World Cup 2025 begins, we will display the Club Championship Standings showing the order of the teams as well as their Club Championship Point tally.
