The Battlefield franchise is coming up with a major return, and fans are extremely excited for it. While EA and DICE haven't disclosed many details, Battlefield 6 has already created a buzz thanks to a few leaks, developer hints, and industry chatter.

Whether you're a longtime fan of the series or someone who is just getting started, continue with our guide as we will explain everything we know so far about the next chapter of Battlefield.

Release date

Battlefield 6 is officially scheduled for release in EA's fiscal year 2026, which runs from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026.

While there isn't any confirmed date yet, we may see the game's launch in Fall 2025, which also aligns with typical blockbuster shooter release windows. This timing will also take advantage of the pre-holiday gaming rush and Black Friday deals.

Platforms

According to ongoing Battlefield Labs playtests, Battlefield 6 is expected to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

While there isn't any expectation of a last-gen release, and with the PlayStation 6 on the horizon, it's highly unlikely that Battlefield 6 will be available for past-generation consoles.

Gameplay details

Early pre-alpha footage shows an exciting return to form, with urban battle zones, intense firefights, and large-scale destruction similar to Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4. Tanks, RPGs, helicopters, and collapsing buildings are all expected to make an appearance.

EA's Battlefield Studios, which includes DICE, Ripple Effect, Motive, and Criterion, are all collectively working on this installment, with plans to refine gunplay and movement. And the end result could be faster shooting feedback, weapon recoil, smooth animations, and advanced mobility features like crouch sprint and combat diving.

Ripple Effect is also reported to be crafting a mysterious new mode, which could shake up the formula even further.

Price and editions

While EA hasn't revealed any pre-order details, we can expect a $70 base price on PlayStation 5 and Xbox, with premium additions possibly ranging between $100 and $120, similar to Battlefield 2042.
