Want to know how to get Unstable Cores and how to use them in Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate? Then you've come to the right place.

The Edge of Fate will bring major changes to the game, including a new currency: Unstable Cores. Infusing is a key part of the game, and this is where Unstable Cores will play a big part in Destiny 2 moving forward.

So, let's break down how to get Unstable Cores and what you'll be using them for in Destiny 2.

How to get Unstable Cores in Destiny 2?

Unstable Cores can be found in a variety of ways, including dismantling gear and weapons with Seasonal Power Level bonus or via the Seasonal Hub.

The Seasonal Hub will have more Unstable Cores

New to Destiny 2 will be Seasonal Power Level. After you reach the soft cap of 200PL, your weapons and gear will come with bonus PL, which will no longer be tied to the artifact.

Gear and weapons that drop above 200PL (that means with Seasonal Power Level bonus) will drop Unstable Cores. The higher the bonus, the more Unstable Cores that a dismantled piece of gear will drop.

Now, there's another way of getting Unstable Cores: the Seasonal Hub. Found via the new Portal, the Seasonal Hub is the home of daily and weekly challenges with a free reward path for all players. Among the rewards, you'll find Unstable Cores. So far, we know that you'll be able to get at least 25.

How to use Unstable Cores in Destiny 2?

Unstable Cores will be used to infuse gear that has a Seasonal Power Level bonus.

Any gear or weapon below the soft cap of 200PL will require Enhancement Cores, but once you pass that threshold, you'll have to stock up on Unstable Cores for all your infusing needs.

If you're wondering: yes, Upgrade Modules will be phased out from the game. If you have them in your inventory during The Edge of Fate you can dismantle them to get 5k Glimmer and one Enhancement Core.
