Do you want to know how Power Level works in Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate? We've got you covered with every bit of necessary info.
The Edge of Fate is set to revamp the majority of systems in Destiny 2 as Bungie kicks off a brand-new saga following the end of the Light and Darkness one with The Final Shape.
Power Level will receive major updates that may make the experience of grinding a bit fresher. So let's break down everything you can expect from it.
What is the Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate Power Level Cap?
For the Edge of Fate, the initial Power Level will be 10. The max PL will be 200, without Seasonal Power boosts. The max seasonal PL cap is 450. Once the Ash & Iron major update is released, the PL cap will be upped to 550.

Power Level will work differently from now on
To recap, the starting PL caps are:
- Power Floor: 10
- Soft Cap: 200
- Powerful Cap: 400
- Hard Cap: 450
Any activity will be able to grant gear that's higher PL than the one you have until you reach the 200 Soft Cap. From then on, Portal activities are your best bet to continue the PL grind.
Seasonal Bonus Power
Seasonal bonus power will let you surge past the regular 200 PL cap. It won't be tied to the Seasonal Artifact anymore.
Now, the seasonal bonus PL will come directly from your weapons and gear. Tackling harder difficulties will grant gear with more bonus PL.
Unlike previous seasons, you don't have a weekly cap to earn more seasonal bonus power, meaning you can grind to your heart's content with The Edge of Fate.
How to raise Power in Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate?
Portal activities should suffice to get you to 400 Power. From then on, in order to get to 450 PL, you'll need to get Prime Engrams.
Getting Prime Engrams can be done by getting high scores in Portal activities.
Obtaining a higher Power Level is not only important to tackle endgame activities, but it'll give you access to better loot tiers. The max is tier 5, which will come with rare aesthetic qualities and the highest stats.
For context, during the grind to 200 PL you'll be able to get tier 1, 2, and if you're lucky, tier 3 weapons and gear.
