After the Valorant Masters Bangkok, the second big international event of the Valorant 2025 esports season is fastly approaching us.

Starting from June 7, a total of twelve of the best teams from around the world will take part in the Valorant Masters Toronto. Logically, not all teams are favorites to lift the trophy. For instance, Team Liquid's chances to win in Canadian soil took a hit as the Blue Cavalry's IGL Ayaz "nAts" Akhmetshin is confirmed to miss out on the team's first match in the competition due to visa issues.

Meanwhile, regional champions like Fnatic, the Valorant Masters Bangkok grand finalists G2 Esports, as well as the only two-time Valorant Masters champions Sentinels are some of the favorites to become international champions later this month.

While these are just some of the strongest candidates for the title, it's important to look at the bigger picture. Therefore, as we approach the start of the competition, it's important to ask the one-million dollar question: who should fans follow closely at the VALORANT Masters Toronto?

If you had no time to follow the other regions' teams' performance and were wondering about which team to root for or look out for, then this article will save you a lot of time. So, without a delay, let's take a look.

Fnatic

Fnatic VALORANT EMEA winning moment

Fnatic have been one of EMEA's powerhouses since the organization's arrival in the region. The team's core, which includes Jake "Boaster" Howlett, Emir "Alfajer" Beder, and Timofrey "Chronicle" Kromov, has been together since the Russian's arrival in November 2022. Together, they have won two international VCT titles, including the Valorant Masters Tokyo and the VCT 2023: LOCK//IN São Paulo, as well as winning the last three VCT EMEA stages.

Following the arrivals of Kajetan "kaajak" Haremski and Austin "crashies" Roberts and despite a slow start to the season, Fnatic are back in full force. The team is leading the charge in the EMEA region and now it's time for them to show their potential abroad.

Fnatic will compete in the Valorant Masters Toronto with the following roster:

  • Jake "Boaster" Howlett
  • Emir Ali "Alfajer" Beder
  • Timofey "Chronicle" Khromov
  • Kajetan "kaajak" Haremski
  • Austin "crashies" Roberts

Paper Rex

Paper Rex VALORANT Pacific finished 2nd Spot

This Southeast Asian dark horse has been in the Valorant esports circuit for a long time now. Time to time, Paper Rex has represented their region in international events and even managed to catch everyone's attention by pulling major upsets against other giants and fan-favorite teams. However, we have seen them failing at the very last moment multiple times in multiple stages. Few of these heartbreaking events were finishing third at the Valorant Masters Tokyo in 2023, second at the Valorant Champions 2023, and third at the Valorant Masters Madrid.

Will this time will be different? Well, despite narrowly finishing in third place at the VCT 2025 Pacific Stage 1, fans can't ignore that the Asian roster took down the Valorant Masters Bangkok champions T1 as well as BOOM Esports and DRX. The team's only defeat in the Playoffs came against the eventual regional champions Rex Regum Qeon, who took Paper Rex down after a 3-2 win which included two overtime victories.

Paper Rex will compete in the Valorant Masters Toronto with the following roster:

  • Ahmad Khalish "d4v41" Rusyaidee bin Nordin
  • Jason "f0rsakeN" Susanto
  • Alessandro Aaron "mindfreak" Leonhart
  • Ilia "something" Petrov
  • Wang Jing "Jinggg" Jie
  • Patrick "PatMen" Mendoza

Team Liquid

Over the years, Team Liquid has built a reputation for consisting of an experienced and smart lineup. With strong international appearances in the past, Liquid continues to aim for the top, and this year seems no different than their past encounters. Recently, EMEA Stage 1, Team Liquid finished third behind Fnatic and Team Heretics.

The team witnessed a massive shift in their play style with the addition of Ayaz "nAts" Akhmetshin, again a former Gambit Player and Masters winner alongside Chronicle. He is known for his calm playstyle and incredible clutch potential, nAts has been a key figure in Liquid’s recent success.

However, going into VCT Masters Toronto, the team faces a small challenge where nAts will miss his opening match due to visa issues. Despite this setback, Team Liquid remains confident of a good start in Masters Toronto. The Blue Cavalry's debut will be against Bilibili Gaming, a side whose last international match win came in August 2023.

  • Ayaz "nAts" Akhmetshin
  • Georgio "keiko" Sanassy
  • Kamil "kamo" Frąckowiak
  • Patryk "paTiTek" Fabrowski
  • Maikls "SerialKiller" Zdanovs

G2 Esports

G2 Esports Crowned VCT Americas 2025 Stage 1 Champions

G2 Esports has had an impressive run so far in 2025. By defeating Sentinels in the grand final of VCT 2025 Americas Stage 1, they secured their spot at the Valorant Masters Toronto with a confident performance. This win cemented their position as one of the strongest teams in the Americas this season.

Earlier this year, G2 Esports came painfully close to lifting a trophy at Masters Bangkok, finishing second after a hard-fought 2-3 loss against Korea’s T1. Even last year, they showed consistency by securing a third place finish at Valorant Masters Shanghai.

With back-to-back deep runs in international events, they’ve proven they can go head-to-head with the best in the world and not just against regional giants. Now, heading into Toronto, the focus will be on whether they can finally take that last step and claim their first international title.

Moreover, the Valorant Masters Toronto will give fans the chance to see where G2 Esports' ceiling is now that Tejo has been nerfed. This is because, during the VCT 2025 Americas Stage 1, G2 Esports overused the Colombian Initiator, using him in every round they played.

G2 Esports will compete in the Valorant Masters Toronto with the following roster:

  • Jonah "JonahP" Pulice
  • Trent "trent" Cairns
  • Jacob "valyn" Batio
  • Nathan "leaf" Orf
  • Alexander "jawgemo" Mor

Sentinels

Sentinels finished 2nd Spot VCT Americas

A Valorant team that has always been known for its star-studded roster and massive fanbase, also the champions of the inaugural Masters in Reykjavik, Sentinels have remained one of the most talked-about teams in the scene. Since that iconic victory, the team has gone through many changes.

Yes, there was a rough phase a year or so ago, where fans witnessed a sharp decline in their performance. A few notable reasons were roster instability or being caught in multiple controversies. It was difficult for them to find a good pace.

Despite all of this, Sentinels have proven time and time again that they are North America's Valorant powerhouse. They've continuously dominated the regional scene since 2021, and now, heading into Valorant Masters Toronto, the team looks determined to bring glory back home.

Sentinels will compete in the Valorant Masters Toronto with the following roster:

  • Zachary Jude "zekken" Patrone
  • Mohamed Amine "johnqt" Ouarid
  • Jordan "Zellsis" Montemurro
  • Sean Christian "bang" Bezerra
  • Marshall "N4RRATE" Massey
  • Yassin "reduxx" Aboulalazm

Now, we do acknowledge that this list is just based on some past performance analysis and a few expectations, but given the day, any team has the potential to outperform any other team to clinch the title.
