Tejo's reign of terror could be well-over. The Colombian's rockets are rumored to be nerfed in Valorant's Patch 10.09, as revealed by the popular leaker ValorLeaks on their X account.
Riot Games released Tejo on January 8, 2025, alongside Act 1 of Season 2025. Since then, the majority of Valorant's community and a big part of the professional scene complained about the Colombian feeling extremely overwhelming to play against.
One of the strongest parts of Tejo's set of abilities is his Signature Ability, the Guided Salvo. It's fair to say the Guided Salvo is arguably one of the best abilities in the game.
First, the Guided Salvo is a rechargeable ability; after deploying the rockets, Tejo will have another available set of rockets 40 seconds after its use. This allows him to first use the Guided Salvo to destroy utility like Cypher or Killjoy's lineups and then have another set to gain an advantage during post plant situations.
Second, the Guided Salvo can be used from a safe distance. Tejo doesn't have to expose himself to trigger them; as long as he's close enough to his target, the Colombian agent will be able to throw them where chosen.
Last but not least, the Guided Salvo being a Signature Ability means that he doesn't have to spend Credits to unlock it round after round; he will have access to his projectiles for free no matter what.
It doesn't take much to see that Tejo is broken, and we explained why the very same day he was released to Valorant. Long story short, he can do too much with his abilities, especially considering he can use them from a safe location.
All things considered, Tejo's nerf was going to come sooner or later... and it's finally here. Tejo will be nerfed in Valorant's upcoming update, the Patch 10.09.
According to the leaks released by the popular Valorant leaker VALORANTLeaksEN on their X account, Riot Games has decided to make the following changes to Tejo's abilities:
- Players will require nine points to unlock Tejo's Ultimate Ability (from eight)
- Tejo's Stealth Drone will cost 400 Credits (from 300)
- Tejo's Special Delivery will cost 200 Credits (from 300)
- Tejo's Guided Salvo's rockets will be reworked:
- Before Patch 10.09, Tejo is allowed to use two rockets per charge. After Patch 10.09, Tejo will be allowed to use one rocket per charge, but will have two charges.
- Tejo's Guided Salvo will include a free charge but players will require 150 Credits to unlock the second.
- Starting from Patch 10.09, Tejo's Guided Salvo's rockets won't be recharged.
- Tejo's map range will be changed from 55 meters to 45 meters.
All in all, these nerfs to Tejo's abilities will surely balance the Colombian operator and make him feel less overwhelming. While these tweaks are beneficial, Tejo mains won't be happy about the upcoming changes. Unfortunately for you guys, it is what it is.
