First Osaka Major key art includes Doc remaster teaster

Rainbow Six Siege's Operation Split Fire kicked off earlier this month; however, just two weeks after the start of the season, we already have a potential teaser of what Ubisoft may have in store for Year 11 Season 4.

Today, Ubisoft and BLAST released the very first key art for the BLAST R6 Major Osaka. In there, the French defender Doc is seen holding what looks like a weapon... which is completely normal. However, Doc isn't holding either of his usual guns or his stim pistol. Instead, he's holding a complete different weapon, which has led Rainbow Six Siege fans to think Doc will be the next remastered operator.

For the last year, Doc's pick rate has fallen considerably season after season. This is because Ubisoft decided in Operation High Stakes to remove all magnifying scopes from defender automatic weapons, which included Doc's MP5. Whilst Doc's stim pistol is useful as it can heal operators, it's a limited device which doesn't fit the current Rainbow Six Siege meta. Therefore, introducing a Doc remaster in Year 11 Season 4 would make sense.

It's difficult to imagine how Ubisoft could transform Doc's device to adapt it to the Rainbow Six Siege meta. Players, especially in low ranks, use Doc in a selfish way; roaming with the French operator and healing themselves when needed.

One of the main issues behind Doc's stim pistol is that healing in Rainbow Six Siege is hard on defence. First, it requires the operator to get close to either Doc or Thunderbird's stations. The healing process has to take place under certain circumstances and with headshots being lethal in Rainbow Six Siege, healing isn't that important.

The best healer in the game is Finka but she's an attacker. The reason why Finka can fit the meta is because of her weapon options and her device being used on all attackers at once from any part of the map. It doesn't require attackers to get close to Finka; the Russian operator only has to press a button to automatically heal and boost every attacker that's still alive.

Doc's potential remaster is still a possibility and it hasn't been confirmed. However, the key art doesn't lie; Doc is holding a new gun or gadget which makes us think he's going to be the next remastered operator. Whilst Doc now leads the race, it's also worth noting that Ubisoft always combines attackers with defenders. Considering that Noor (defender) was released in Year 11 Season 3, players expected an attacker to be remastered in Season 4. If Doc's remaster were to happen in the next few months, this pattern, which has been followed for years, would be broken.
