The Rainbow Six Siege Malta Cyber Series IX has been confirmed today, making a return to the scene after an absence in 2025. The last edition played was won by ENCE, the Finn's last appearance in Ubisoft's FPS. This time, the event will offer a prize pool of USD$15,000 as well as a spot at the EML Challenger Finals.

The qualifiers for 2027's edition will begin on January 6th and it will run until the penultimate week of February 2027. The tournament has been confirmed to involve Tier 2 and Tier 1 teams from Europe and MENA. So far, four open qualifiers for Europe and MENA's Tier 2 teams have been confirmed, which you can check out here. Additionally, as mentioned above, there will be an exclusive qualifier for Tier 1 teams.

The action in Malta will consist of a double-elimination bracket, spread across three days, as the event will be played between March 19 and March 21.

Based on the tournament's description on their official Challenger Mode channel, the Rainbow Six Siege Malta Cyber Series IX will include six teams: four Tier 2 teams from the Last Chance Qualifier, a Tier 1 team from the Tier 1 qualifier, and "one other team."

Although there's no official confirmation of what this "one other team" may be, this spot could be reserved to a team from Brazil's Tier 2 scene as Rainbow Six Siege's esports Brazil X account shared a post with the message "Times do Tier 2: PREPAREM AS MALAS" which translates to "Tier 2 teams: prepare your bags." The post also included the typography used in Malta Cyber Series' announcements as well as some of Malta's architecture.

In the next few days, we will prepare a guide for you about the Rainbow Six Siege Malta Cyber Series IX. For more information about Rainbow Six Siege and its esports scene, make sure to check out Siege.GG.
