The hype for Battlefield 6 is showing

The Battlefield 6 beta is currently in its first weekend, and although numbers were high from the start, with massive server queues, more and more players joined in the fun once the early access period ended and the beta became fully open to everyone.

On Saturday night, the beta reached over 520k concurrent players only on Steam. This is an impressive feat considering Battlefield 2042's concurrent record on the platform is a little over 100k.

At the time, the game positioned itself as the third most popular game on the PC platform, only trailing behind the juggernauts that are Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2, but ahead of other titles such as Apex Legends and PUBG.

Most notably, this broke the all-time users record for Call of Duty games on Steam, which is a little more than 490k users and it was achieved back in November 2022 when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launched. That is also the time when the franchise was reintroduced into the platform after a few years of exclusivity with Battle.net on PC.

Nonetheless, this indicates EA's new entry in the franchise could make a dent into Activision's baby if they manage to keep the players interested. After all, the urge for a new Battlefield game is higher this year, in part because of 2042's letdowns.

The beta only grants player access to some parts of the multiplayer, which will be one of the modes in the Battlefield 6 premium experience. A battle royale is also set to launch alongside it, but it is expected to be a free-to-play experience, mimicking Call of Duty's model with Warzone.
