Battlefield 6 has officially launched, and the title had a massive first day on Steam, gathering even more players than it did during the open beta.
Although console players on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S were enjoying the title since the clocks turned 12 AM on Friday, PC players had to wait until the global release time, which was at 8:00 AM PT (4:00 PM BST).
Just an hour after its PC release, the title reached over 700k concurrent players on Steam, smashing its previous record of 521k that was achieved during the open beta back in August.

The title has become one of EA's most successful launches on the platform, surpassing the all-time peak concurrent player count of Apex Legends (624k), which remains as one of the most played games on the platform.
Just 24 hours after launch, Battlefield 6 sits in third place of games with the most active players on Steam, only behind the two giants from Valve, Counter-Strike 2 in first and Dota 2 in second.
Now it remains to be seen if the game can keep the players' interests with its post-launch content. The developers have already announced the roadmap for Season 1, which is scheduled to begin on October 28, two and a half weeks after launch.
It will also be interesting to see how the game performs when Activision launches Black Ops 7, this year's Call of Duty, in November. It's no secret that the two games share a similar player base, leading to comparisons between the two as we've seen in the past.
