Black Ops 7 is the next title in the yearly franchise, with Treyarch coming back for a new entry after developing this game and Black Ops 6 simultaneously. The first round of details came out after the official reveal at Gamescom 2025, confirming some rumors and announcing new information.
While we patiently wait for more rumors, leaks, and the COD Next 2025 event, here are all the major details about the title so you can be up to date.
When does Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 come out?
Black Ops 7 is scheduled to come out on Friday, November 14th. The game will release on last-gen consoles (PS4 and Xbox One), current-gen consoles (Xbox Series X|S and PS5), and PC through Battle.net and Steam.
This is the latest a Call of Duty game has released within the usual window, given that both Black Ops 2 and Black Ops Cold War, the previous owners of this title, came out on November 13th in their respective years.
Trailers
Here is the first teaser for the new title, which features the return of David Mason, the protagonist from Black Ops 2:
Next, we have the reveal trailer, which was shown during Gamescom 2025's Opening Night Live presentation, where we can see that the campaign will take us on a psychedelic trip:
Campaign and story
Black Ops 7's story takes place in 2035 and will be a direct sequel to Black Ops 2. David Mason returns as the lead, and Milo Ventimiglia (Gilmore Girls, This Is Us) will take over the role from Rich McDonald, who portrayed the character's adult version in Black Ops 2.

According to the blog, Mason and his team will be tasked to infiltrate the city of Avalon, and they will uncover a new weapon that "turns fear into an instrument of war." We can tell that this weapon is some sort of special gas, capable of making soldiers hallucinate.
With the trailer showing us that we will revisit locations from the Black Ops 2 campaign, like Nicaragua and Los Angeles, it is safe to say that those campaign levels will be part of a hallucination.
The campaign can be played solo or co-op with up to four players, and there won't be a difficulty setting. Instead, the campaign's difficulty will depend on the number of users in a match.
The campaign will reportedly have 12 missions, and the last one, officially referred to as the Endgame, will be a 32-player match on the Avalon map, where players have to complete a series of objectives. If a player dies, they will lose all progress and must restart the mission from zero.
Multiplayer
The multiplayer will feature 16 6v6 maps and 2 20v20 maps at launch, with three of them being remastered versions of the following Black Ops 2 maps: Raid, Express, and Hijacked.

In terms of movement, Tactical Sprint has been removed from the default movement options, but players can still use it when having a specific perk equipped. Wall Jumps have been added to the omnimovement set, allowing players to bounce off walls (and not walk on them like in Black Ops 3).
According to multiple leaks from TheGhostOfHope, maps won't have interactive doors, and streaks will be loopable. These two details haven't been officially confirmed, but given that previous leaks about tactical sprint and the return of specialist abilities were right, we are inclined to believe these are too.
One leak from a private playtest suggests the Uplink game mode is coming back. The last time we saw this mode was in Infinite Warfare, the last COD that featured advanced movement.
The multiplayer will also have a new feature called Overclock, where each Scorestreak, Field Upgrades, and Equipment will have two upgrades.
Zombies
Zombies is back again, and the launch map is rumored to be a remaster of the Tranzit from Black Ops 2, but located inside the Dark Aether. Users will be able to play as characters from the Black Ops 6 crew or the returning crew of Takeo, Nikolai, Tank, and Richtofen.

Instead of the original bus, players can use the Wonder Vehicle to drive from one POI of the map to another safely.
An old report suggests the mode will feature six Zombies maps during its entire life cycle, which includes post-launch maps. The report explains that developers are taking more liberties with this game's maps, and here are some of the ideas going around:
- A map in a post-WW2 New York City where the Nazi's dropped a nuclear bomb.
- A Japanese temple at the foot of an erupting volcano.
- A map in Vietnam
- A map in Afghanistan
- A space station in the Dark Aether
Not all of these ideas might become a reality, but they should give us a clue as to what we can expect in terms of settings.

Here are other minor details we know about the title or its release schedule as we wait for more official announcements:
