What is Terminal Attack?
Terminal Attack is the main ranking mode in The Finals. It's a 5v5, best-of-13 round-based format where teams alternate between attacking and defending. Attackers are required to deliver a decryption, whereas defenders aim to prevent the upload.
This is an extremely strategic and intense mode designed to put your aim, teamwork, and map control all to the test.
How does the ranked system work?
Embark Studios moved away from the fame-based system and replaced it with a skill-based ranked ladder back in Season 3. This includes visible Rank Scores that can increase or decrease after every match according to how you perform and your opponents' skill levels.
The current ranking tiers as of Season 7 are:
- Iron
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Emerald
- Diamond
- Ruby
Rank progression isn't determined by individual stats like K/D anymore, and the ranking algorithm prioritizes impactful team performance.
What are ranked tournaments?
Ranked tournaments are 24-player events, i.e., 8 teams of 3, with selection based on previous performance. The final team placement will impact your Rank Score significantly more than raw stats. Finishing within the top three will significantly improve your score, even if you have an average K/D.
What are the Season 7 ranked rewards?
Season 7 of The Finals offers exclusive cosmetic items according to your highest achieved rank. Here are the rewards being offered currently in the ranked mode:
- Badges: Show off your top rank with limited-time badges like the S7 Emerald badge.
- Weapon Skins: Unique skins for reaching specific tiers: CL-40 (Gold), KS-23 (Platinum), SR-84 (Diamond), and ShAK-50 (Ruby).
- Multibucks: Earn 200 for Platinum 1 and 250 for Diamond 1.
- Dive Trails: Stylish skydive effects for top-tier players—active during the drop phase for one season.
Note: These rewards change slightly each season but usually follow the same reward structure.
