Team Heretics have qualified for the Valorant Esports World Cup grand finals after taking Gen.G Esports down following a heated BO3 semifinal.
Los Niños had a great start to the series with a comfortable 13-7 win on their map pick, Ascent. The Boo brothers, Ričardas "Boo" Lukaševičius and Dominykas "MiniBoo" Lukaševičius, left a great performance as they got a combined amount of 30 kills. However, Mert "Wo0t" Alkan stole the show with 20 kills and an ACS of 296.
Following Team Heretics' initial display, Gen.G Esports leveled the series with a 13-8 win on their map pick, Haven. Although Los Niños had a great start to the series as they quickly put themselves ahead on the scoreboard, the South Koreans managed to complete their defensive half with a 7-5 lead. The golden roster couldn't be stopped on attack and managed to send the series to the third map, following an outstanding performance by Kim "t3xture" Na-ra, who finished the map with an ACS of 322.
Finally, although the first maps were pretty much one-sided, the final map, Lotus, was just the opposite. Both teams fought until the very end, with Gen.G Esports being the first to reach series point as the South Koreans temporarily held a 12-10 lead. However, the European mix managed to send the map to overtime, and after two failed series points, Team Heretics closed out the match with a successful defense.
This victory is a special one for Team Heretics as the European mix has finally redeemed themselves from their Valorant Masters Shanghai loss, which came against Gen.G Esports one year ago.
Tomorrow, Team Heretics will play against Fnatic in the Valorant Esports World Cup grand final. Right before the start of the match, Gen.G Esports and Paper Rex will face off to determine who will claim the tournament's third place.
