The upcoming update in Splitgate 2 is expected to be one of the most significant yet, especially for players who crave a competitive challenge. After months of anticipation, Splitgate 2 is officially launching the awaited Ranked Arena on July 3.
This new mode will bring a set of core modes, especially curated for competitive play. Continue with this guide to learn how the Splitgate 2 Ranked Mode works, what modes to expect, and how the point system functions.
What game modes are in Ranked Arena?

The Ranked Arenas in Splitgate 2 will have three core modes at launch. These include:
- Firecracker
- Spitball
- Hotzone
These choices exclude Domination and Takedown, as these two modes have sparked criticism and concerns about competitiveness.
How does the ranking system work?
Splitgate 2 doesn't use placement matches, meaning every player starts in bronze and can climb up by earning points via winning. The full rank progression is
Bronze → Silver → Gold → Platinum → Diamond → Prolium → Champion
Each division has five tiers, i.e., from 1 to 5, and once you pass Prolium, you'll enter Champion, which has a floor of 3000 points. If you make it into the top hundred, your rank batch will start displaying your exact position on the leaderboard.
Individual performance will also play a major role in advancement, but match outcomes will be the primary motivator. While specifics aren't fully confirmed, we can expect a combination of win/loss effect and personal metrics like kill/death ratio or objective contributions.

Can you lose rank?
YES, players can derank in the Splitgate 2 Ranked Arena. If you reach Diamond 5 but then start to underperform, you may fall back to Platinum. This also includes the Champion rank, where dropping below 3000 points will bring you down to Prolium.
However, even if you drop, you may still earn cosmetics and rewards from your highest year, as seasonal rewards are tied to your peak rank.
Communication and teamwork matter
Like any other ranked system, communication is key. Communicating with your teammates will help improve coordination, no matter if you are solo queuing or teaming up. The ping system also helps, but voice comms still remain more efficient for clutch players and strategic pushes.
