Earlier today, Sharper Esports qualified for the BLAST R6 Major Osaka after beating Elevate in a heated 2-1 win against the Asian mix. Surprisingly enough, the Thai roster shocked the viewers with a 2-1 win against Weibo Gaming.
Sharper Esports' victory against the Rainbow Six Siege Esports World Cup 2026 quarterfinalists means they will start their run at the BLAST R6 Major Osaka from the Swiss Stage. This has elevated Sharper Esports to the Global Standings' Top 15 as they currently own 1,210 SI Points. At the same time, Weibo Gaming's loss means they will have to take part in Osaka's play-in phase.
Weibo Gaming's defeat against Sharper Esports is the team's first loss in Asia since October 12, 2025. Back then, the Asian super roster lost against CAG Osaka in the grand final of the BLAST R6 Major Munich APAC Qualifier.
Before today, Weibo Gaming's record in the BLAST R6 Asia League 2026 was 23-0. In terms of maps, the team was at 32-1; Weibo Gaming had only lose one map, which happened in their 2-1 victory against Daystar in Stage 1.
All of these numbers make Sharper Esports' victory extremely rare. After winning the first map, Weibo Gaming seemed to bounce back as they won their five attacks on Bank. As they completed a 5-1 half on Clubhouse, Weibo Gaming's victory looked extremely likely. However, Sharper Esports completed a miraculous comeback.
With Sharper Esports in Osaka's Swiss Stage, the play-ins look like a dangerous place to be in. DarkZero Esports, Virtus.pro, and Weibo Gaming, and LOS are the favorites to reach the Swiss Stage; however, the list of play-in teams also includes All Gamers, TYLOO, and KINGZERO eSports, as well as the APAC North champion, which will be either Dplus KIA, CAG by VARREL, or SCARZ.
