EA and Respawn have announced their partnership with the Japanese city of Sapporo to bring the next two ALGS Championships to the Sapporo Dome, currently known as the Daiwa House PREMIST DOME for sponsorship reasons.

The venue isn't strange to Apex Legends esports fans as it hosted the Year 4 ALGS Championship, which gathered more than 34,000 attendees, according to EA's statement.

Today's announcement also included more information on the dates for the next two ALGS Championships. While the ALGS Championship 2025 will be played between January 15 and January 18, 2026, the ALGS Championship 2026 will be payed in Winter 2027.

The ALGS Championship 2025 will include 40 teams. The journey to Sapporo has already kicked off as teams are currently competing to gather as many Championship Points as possible. By the end of the regular season, the 24 teams with the most Championship Points will qualify for the ALGS Championship 2025.

As of now, the two highest teams in the Championship Points standings are Team Falcons and Alliance, with 4,740 and 4,440 Championship Points each. They have been the two most consistent sides this season, with great results both regionally and internationally.

At the ALGS Open 2025, Team Falcons and Alliance finished in first and second place, respectively. Additionally, both teams won their respective regional Pro League splits. Therefore, it's fair to say these two Apex Legends powerhouses are the current favorites to win in Sapporo at the beginning of next year.

Other well recognized teams that currently sit in the Top 24 of the Championship Points standings are Gen.G Esports, Shopify Rebellion, 100 Thieves, Ninjas in Pyjamas, NRG, Sentinels, FURIA Esports, Natus Vincere, Fnatic, and JD Gaming.

The teams' next big chance to gather more Championship Points will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, between July 10 and July 13. The Esports World Cup 2025 has a USD$2M prize pool and the winner will receive 3,000 Championship Points.

Teams who miss out on the Championship Standings Top 24 will also have other ways to qualify for ALGS Championship 2025, including:

  • Finishing in the Top 2 in their respective ALGS Pro League Split 2.
  • Finishing in the Top 2 in their respective regional Last Chance Qualifier.

Last but not least, EA also revealed that ticket information for the ALGS Year 5 Championship will be released soon.
