Ubisoft has confirmed all of the details regarding what will be Dokkaebi's second nerf in three months, coming in early September with the launch of Operation Split Fire.
The South Korean attacker was remastered in Operation System Override, Rainbow Six Siege's second season for Year 11. Ubisoft killed Dokkaebi's Logic Bomb to create the Jegeo Payload, completely transforming the attacker's operator ability.
Before the remaster, Dokkaebi could call all defenders at once as well as hacking all devices for an unlimited time. However, Dokkaebi's Jegeo Payload works slightly differently as she can only target one defender at a time with it. If defenders don't pick up the call, their phone explodes, delivering 40 HP of damage as well as stopping them from accessing cameras and their own operator devices. Moreover, Dokkaebi can only hack cameras for a limited time.
The impact of this change can be felt in lower ranks as players must coordinate to get the most out of the gadget. However, in higher ranks, especially competitive, Dokkaebi felt stronger immediately after she was released. Without a doubt, the mix of Dokkaebi's Jegeo Payload with her loadout makes the South Korean stand out among the rest of attackers.
We can't say Ubisoft hasn't tried to stop Dokkaebi's reign of terror. The first tweaks to her gadget were released a few weeks ago. In the weeks to come, more changes will be launched, making Dokkaebi a more balanced operator.
Here's a look at the changes that will affect Dokkaebi in Operation Split Fire:
Jegeo Payload to require constant connection
Dokkaebi's Jegeo Payload will require constant connection in order to complete the upload. Therefore, operators like Mute and Tubarao will be able to counter Dokkaebi's Jegeo Payload.
To do so, players will have to either walk close enough from a Mute jammer or to be under the effects of Tubarao's freezing canister.
Additionally, Dokkaebi's tablet will always be active during the payload upload.
Impact EMPs removed
Impact EMPs will be removed from Dokkaebi's loadout. Instead, Dokkaebi will receive soft breaching charges.
SMG-12 nerf
The SMG-12 has been a huge part of Dokkaebi's weapon loadout for a long while now. Unfortunately for Dokkaebi, Vigil, and Warden fans, the SMG-12 is getting a substantial nerf in Operation Split Fire.
Ubisoft is reducing the SMG-12 damage from 28 to 16 HP. Additionally, the magazine size will be reduced to just 22 bullets. This forces players to be extremely sharp and precise, making headshots crucial.
These changes should end Dokkaebi's reign of terror for good. Adding counters to the Jegeo Payload as well as making Dokkaebi's weapon and gadget loadout less powerful should be enough to balance the South Korean attacker.
