Although the Season 18 announcements have started, Season 17 still has another collaboration event in the cards, as the upcoming Overwatch 2 x Nerf crossover has been officially revealed. The event was first teased with the season's launch trailer, and now we have a trailer showcasing what's coming.

We have gathered all the important details about this event so you can decide if it's time to prepare and get some new cosmetics or grind the game for rewards.

When is the Overwatch 2 x Nerf collaboration coming out?

The Overwatch 2 x Nerf collaboration will kick off on Tuesday, August 5th, at 11:00 AM PT (7:00 PM BST) for all platforms. We are not expecting a big update for this time, meaning all the new content should go live without any signifcant extra downloads.

The collaboration will remain active for at least three weeks, as that's the time remaining in the current season. After that, all the content will be gone, and there is no telling if it will ever come back.

Trailer

Here is the Overwatch 2 x Nerf trailer, where we can see all the major additions coming to the game as a part of it:

Skins and weapon skins

As expected, the event brings several new weapon skins, all themed after the Nerf brand. Here are the heroes getting a weapon skin, along with their unlock method:

  • Completing event challenges
  • Tracer
  • Shop
  • Soldier: 76
  • Baptiste
  • Mei
  • Hanzo
  • Genji
  • Cassidy

Cassidy will headline the event with his new legendary skin, which will have special sound effects. He will be the only hero receiving a skin, and players will be able to acquire it through the in-game shop.

New mode: Nerf or Nothin'

The event is bringing a new mode called Nerf or Nothin', just like the brand's signature slogan. This is a free-for-all mode where players will spawn in with a random hero, except for Mercy and Lifeweaver as these two are not included in the pool.

After getting an elimination, your hero will be swapped for another random one, and the first player who reaches the points limit will win. If you haven't got an elimination after three deaths, the game will automatically swap your hero.

All cooldowns for heroes' abilities have been reduced by 80% and we will see maps like Chateau, Petra, Kanezaka, Malevento, King’s Row, Hollywood, Dorado, Eichenwalde, Blizzard World, and even Paris.
