With Season 2.5 of Marvel Rivals just a few days away, the developers released a new dev blog video to talk about the upcoming additions to the hero shooter.
One unexpected addition is an experimental new game mode called Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol. In this, players are tasked to set up a team of six characters to battle other players' lineups in what looks to be a chessboard.
The mode will feature its shop system, where players will be able to purchase cards to enhance their heroes' traits in between rounds.
During a match, you are set to take the role of Ultron, who is overseeing the fight from above and influencing the way the selected characters engage in combat.
Here is the snippet from the developer video where they show gameplay of this mode so you can see it in action:
The mode will go live on Friday, June 6th, exactly a week after the release of Season 2.5. At the moment, it's unclear if this experimental mode will remain permanently available or only for a limited time.
