Today was a special day to be a Fortnite fan. With Chapter 5 concluding tonight, today's event Remix: The Finale saw Fortnite gathering 14 million concurrent players. If that wasn't enough, around 3 million estimated people streamed the event online, according to Fortnite's post on the game's official X account.
As Chapter 5 is now part of the past, fans are already looking forward to the future of Fortnite. Luckily, Chapter 6 has already opened its doors. What a way to end the week!
However, this is not everything. While a ton of content is coming to the game with this new chapter, including collaborations with Demon Slayer and the release of OG Fortnite, there's more in store.
Earlier today, Fortnite's official X account confirmed Chapter 6 weapons will be hitscan. Therefore, players will have to adapt to a new game mechanic, which has been welcomed with open arms by the Fortnite community.
Hitscan is a shooting mechanic in which shots don't experience bullet delay or drop, meaning the bullets hit the aimed target right after pulling the trigger. In other words, players don't have to predict where the enemy will move: it's just about having good aim at the time of shooting.
Hitscan weapons were common in Fortnite until the release of Fortnite's Chapter 5. It was then that Epic Games decided to introduce travel time in shots, which meant projectile weapons would experience a bullet drop. This chapter-exclusive mechanic pushed players to predict where the enemy would be by the time the bullet landed their target.
With all the content coming to Fortnite during Chapter 6 and the OG mode completely transforming the game, we expect the game's upcoming season to change the players' experience. Hitscan is just one of the tenths of features coming to Fortnite in the upcoming weeks.
