Epic Games always offers a ton of competitive tournaments and formats for players who are looking for that extra dose of high-intensity competition and some nice rewards to boot.

The Shohei Ohtani Cup will be the perfect way for Fortnite and MLB fans to take a crack at getting an ICON skin for free. It won't be easy, though. Here's what you need to know.

The event will kick off on March 15. The start times will be different depending on your region, so check the in-game Fortnite tournament tab to check when you'll be able to participate.

As for the format, the Shohei Ohtani Cup is a Solos event played in battle royale. That means no Zero Build event this time.

How to participate

To play in the Fortnite Shohei Ohtani Cup select the event in the Fortnite competitive tab as soon as the tournament starts and join the queue.

Do note you need to have two-factor authentication enabled. Furthermore, your account must be in "good standing" with Epic, meaning you need to have no undisclosed violations. Finally, you need to have a level 50 account to participate.

Scoring system

Like other Fortnite events, you'll have three hours to compete in a maximum of 10 matches. The scoring system is as follows:

  • Victory Royale: 60 points
  • 2nd: 53 points
  • 3rd: 49 points
  • 4th: 47 points
  • 5th: 46 points
  • 6th: 45 points
  • 7th: 44 points
  • 8th: 43 points
  • 9th: 42 points
  • 10th: 41 points
  • 11th: 40 points
  • 12th: 39 points
  • 13th: 38 points
  • 14th: 37 points
  • 15th: 36 points
  • 16th: 35 points
  • 17th: 34 points
  • 18th: 33 points

On top of that, each elimination grants 2 points.

Depending on the region, the amount of winners changes:

  • Oceania: 1st-200th
  • Asia: 1st-200th
  • Middle East: 1st-200th
  • Brazil: 1st-200th
  • North America West: 1st-200th
  • North America Central: 1st-1800th
  • EU: 1st-2000th
