Fortnite has essentially become the crossover game, with numerous franchises appearing in the free-to-play shooter. Whether it’s Marvel, Star Wars, or Street Fighter, they’re all going to appear in the Epic Games title eventually. Netflix properties don’t appear to be safe either, as a teaser has revealed that Squid Game is next.
A post on the game’s official X account released a teaser image, showing the iconic PlayStation-like shape pattern from Squid Game. Interrupting those shapes is the face of Peely, confirming that this is going to be a crossover event. Naturally, fans of both franchises are pretty excited about the possibilities.
An official announcement for the crossover was also made during the State of Unreal livestream. It was stated that Squid Game would come to Fortnite later this month. In addition to that, Squid Game tools will also be added to UEFN (Unreal Editor for Fortnite).
There are already plenty of cool skins in Fortnite, but we imagine that players will want to use the jumpsuits in Netflix’s dramatic series. Fans will also want to see the skins of those mysterious masked figures, who would look distinct in this shooter. Based on this teaser, we’re sure that more details will be coming soon.
No release date for the Squid Game crossover was announced, but at least we know it's happening this month. Given that the show's third season is scheduled to come out on June 27th, we expect the crossover and the UEFN tools to come out around the same time.
Fortnite always has major plans for these crossovers, so we’re interested in seeing what skins they chose to represent the show. If there’s a skin fans don’t like, they can always wait for another big event.
