EML 2026 Stage 1 Day 1 Preview: Yoggah's debut for Geekay Esports against G2 Esports, CTZN debut for Fnatic, and more!

Ready for some action?

Alem4o G2 Esports

With the Europe and MENA League 2026 Stage 1 kicking off today, here's a look at this evening's matches:

Virtus.pro vs. Fnatic

Fnatic's new lineup including Ben "CTZN" McMillan and Sm1ss will make its debut this evening against Virtus.pro. The Bears shown great potential in Europe and MENA's Kickoff after finishing in second place. In Salt Lake City, the team was knocked out after a 2-3 Swiss Stage run.

On paper, Virtus.pro should take the win against Fnatic. In fact, Virtus.pro have won four of their five clashes against Fnatic in Rainbow Six Siege. The team's last defeat against the orange roster came in March 2024 when Fnatic secured an 8-6 win at the Europe League 2024 Stage 1.

Shifters vs. Twisted Minds

The BLAST R6 Major Salt Lake City semifinalists are back in action today as they will play against Shifters in the teams' debut in the Europe and MENA League 2026 Stage 1.

The last time both teams clashed was in the qualification match for the BLAST R6 Major Salt Lake City, which ended in a 2-1 victory for the MENA lineup. Therefore, this is a golden opportunity for Shifters to redeem themselves and start the stage on the right track.

After missing out on Salt Lake City, Shifters decided to part ways with Nicolas "P4" Rimbaud and sign Nathan "Nafe" Sharp from Team Secret instead. This will be the first time we see the British player in action for the Swiss esports organization.

It will also be the first time we see Twisted Minds in action with Abdullah "Dov2hkiin" Alsaeedi on the team since the conclusion of Europe and MENA's Kickoff. Keep in mind that the team's historic Salt Lake City semifinal finish happened with his brother Abdulrahman "Guardz" Alsaeedi on the roster. Can Twisted Minds continue the positive results with their current lineup?

G2 Esports vs. Geekay Esports

For the first time ever in Europe's Rainbow Six Siege top flight, a match will include two players from the United States—both of them playing for different teams. Logically, Zack "Stompn" Lamb will represent G2 Esports. Meanwhile, Evan "Yoggah" Nelson will make his Europe and MENA League debut for Geekay Esports, after having previously played for teams such as XSET, M80, Oxygen Esports, or 100 Thieves.

This will be the first time G2 Esports and Geekay Esports face off in a regional Rainbow Six Siege match. Before today, their matches happened on international competitions, with the samurai securing the victory at the BLAST R6 Major Atlanta and the Six Invitational 2024.

Team Falcons vs. Rebels Gaming

Team Falcons are back to the action with a match against Rebels Gaming. The team's last game was their 0-2 defeat against FaZe Clan at the BLAST R6 Major Salt Lake City, which saw the team missing out on their first BLAST R6 Major grand final since the BLAST R6 Major Atlanta.

Team Falcons and Rebels Gaming have only met once. The match, which was played during Kickoff's group stage, ended in a 7-1 win for Team Falcons.

Team Secret vs. Team Heretics

Team Secret and Team Heretics will meet in the final clash of the day. Despite a horrific start to the Europe and MENA League 2026, the Italian roster didn't make any roster changes. Meanwhile, this will be the first time we see Daniel "Flexy" Esmail and Drillz in action in the region's top flight.

Curiously enough, Flexy and Oscar "Oscr" Deacon will make their Team Secret debut against Team Heretics, who they represented at the Six Invitational 2026. After failing to achieve promotion to Europe and MENA's top flight through the Challenger Series 2026, the Spanish esports powerhouse decided to drop the lineup. Now, four of the five players that represented Team Heretics in Paris are now competing in Europe and MENA's top flight.

This clash is extremely important for various reasons. First, it will be the first test for Team Secret's new lineup. Second, on paper, it will likely be one of the most feasible matches for Team Heretics. After all, they are playing against a team that has just made three roster changes and who have just lost their four-year-long IGL. If they lose today, they will probably finish the week with back-to-back defeats as they are facing G2 Esports tomorrow.
