Destiny 2: How to complete the Orientation quest

Want help completing the Orientation Destiny 2 side quest? Then you've come to the right place.

The Edge of Fate campaign is beefy, with plenty of side content, including the Orientation side quest. So, let's get into it.

How to unlock the Orientation side quest in Destiny 2

The Orientation quest will become available once you complete step 21 of the main Edge of Fate campaign quest. It'll be close to the ending so it's one of the last side quests you'll gain access too.

We recommend you also complete The Gorge Strangelet quest that's part of the main campaign. More on why later.

Destiny 2 Orientation quest steps

To start the quest, you can use the Outer Steppes landing zone and head to The Stacks in the designated location.

Time to side quest

Step 1: Seek out vestiges of the Nine's presence across Kepler

The first step will have you looking around for vestiges of The Nine. This is where to find them. For the first one:

Follow this direction

• Head over to the area in the image above. You'll need to use the Exiled teleporter technology to reach the other side
• Drop down and use the train teleporter
• In this next area turn right and hop unto the high ground above the room marked as #3, turn left and enter the open room, then turn to your right to commune with The Nine

For the second one:

• Use the Outer Steppes landing zone to make it easier
• Follow the path you used to trigger the quest, but instead of entering the room on the second floor keep going straight
• Right under the bridge, turn right and you should spot the Nine vestige on the other side of a wall
• Use the Matterspark that's right there and drop down, then go left (towards the direction you came from). You should be able to see a spot you can use to get to the vestige

Step 2: Locate a second group of symbols of the Nine

Now, we got to find three more symbols. These will be in the Assimilated Easement area so use the Caldera patrol landing zone and head over there.

V Symbol location:

Little hole in the wall

• Once you open the gate to The Gorge and head into the Assimilated Easement, keep walking forward until you see a crack on the wall on your left
• Clear the Vex and the Nine vestige should be right in front of you

Symbol V location

VI Symbol location:

• Exit the room where you found the V symbol and keep walking forward past the giant pillar in front of you
• You'll eventually bump into a Vex gate preventing you from access the next symbol
• The only way to open this door is by completing The Gorge Strangelet quest, one that's part of the main campaign.
• Once you do that, the Nine vestige should be right next to the platform that leads you to the train teleporter

XI Symbol location:

• Keep going down the path where a Hydra spawns
• Move past the train and into the small platforming section to reach The Stellar sink
• Use the Matter Realignment power up to reach the next area. The Nine vestige is at the top of the three-like formation in the middle of the chamber

One more symbol

Step 3: Locate a third group of symbols of the Nine

Surprise, more symbols. Let's get to it. One is in Curtilage Divide and the other in Augur's Bethel so use the former's landing zone.

Symbol VII location:

• Once you spawn, take a right and make your way through a Shank infested series of platforms until you reach solid ground across the room
• Take the train portal that'll show up as you keep walking
• You should spawn in Exile's Accord. Follow the railroad and keep moving forward, you might find a Resilient Shank along the way, meaning you're on the right track
• You'll run into a little bit of platforming that will lead you to an open door
• Clear the Eliksni in this area. You should find the Nine vestige right in the middle of the main platform

One more symbol down

Symbol VIII location:

• Use the landing zone and this time go straight to reach Augur's Bethel.
• At the first intersection, turn left. This is where you'll find the Dark Academia side quest in case you haven't done it.
• As soon as you enter the area, look to your right to spot the symbol

Step 4: Locate a fourth group of symbols of the Nine

You are not going to believe this... anyways, let's get to it, this one is found in the Aionian Campus so use the LZ.

Symbol IV location:

• Make your way past the Eliksni and Vex duking it out and head through the passageway right of the jammed door, follow the main path and you should find the vestige pretty easily

Step 5: Bind your connections with the Nine to the Orrery

Time to head back where we started the quest, use the Outer Steppes landing zone and interact with the terminal you used to trigger the quest.
