On April 12, 2025, Bungie got the whole FPS community excited with the release of Marathon's first official gameplay trailer.

From the creators of Destiny 2 and Halo, Marathon's presentation was followed across the globe. With this being Bungie's first brand-new IP in over a decade, the expectations were massive, and despite creating mixed opinions, fans flooded Marathon's Discord server to claim a code to access the game's Alpha version.

However, one month after the reveal, a big accusation has been made against Marathon, and it could have a huge impact on Bungie's reputation.

According to the X user 4nt1r34l, Marathon alpha's environments had been covered with assets lifted from her poster designs made in 2017. Logically, the user brought up evidence of how the designs match with the concepts she had designed eight years ago.

Shortly after, the post was already the main talking point in Marathon's community. Some readers pointed out that Bungie had used almost all of her portfolio, as the elements allegedly stolen include the QR-code pixels art, fonts, colors, and more.

At the time of writing, the post has already gathered almost seven thousand reposts and over 35 thousand likes. The reactions from Marathon fans and the overall FPS community have been of support, as they have already asked Bungie for explanations.

A few days before, Marathon's Franchise Art Director Joseph Cross posted on his personal X account that the team had worked on Marathon's visuals with Kurppa Host.

While some could use this post to argue that he had no idea the concept arts weren't theirs, 4nt1r34l revealed that Joseph Cross and others from Bungie had been following her "for years" but had never heard from them.

We will update you about the situation as soon as more information is released. Until then, make sure to stick with us here at Siege.gg, the best site for Marathon coverage and any other major FPS title.
