Just a week after the Jönköping Major, two of the semi-finalists in Sweden competed in Brazil's Grand Final to determine the regional champions for the 2022 season. The Sudamericano followed, as the best four rosters in South America fought for their chance to become regional champions.
Liquid repeat w7m esports win
Just one week after facing off in the Jönköping Major semi-finals, Team Liquid and w7m esports met again in São Paulo to name this year's Brazilian champions. While Liquid were focused on defending their crown, w7m were hoping to win the competition for the first time.

Despite w7m esports' initial win on Border, Team Liquid had a chokehold on the rest of the match. They were unstoppable in the following three maps and only dropped eight rounds in total -- of which five were on Oregon and three were on Chalet. The final map of Clubhouse saw w7m fall completely flat and lose 0-7.
André "NESKWGA" Oliveira was the best player, as he got nine entry kills across the four maps played. Meanwhile, Luccas "Paluh" Molina was the second-best player by SiegeGG Rating on Liquid, with Lorenzo "Lagonis" Volpi next. The former Team oNe player completed five plants in what was another great performance by the IGL.
Meanwhile, Diego "Kheyze" Zanello was far from the excellent form he had through the regular stages of the Brasileirão this season. The rookie duo of João "Jv92" Vitor and Gabriel "volpz" Fernandes also had a poor match, conceding 12 entry deaths and only four opening kills.
Despite the loss, however, w7m esports' improvements since the start of the season are undeniable. After a fierce fight to avoid relegation in the 2021 season, the team is now a roster seen as a favourite to challenge for the title at Majors and at the upcoming Six Invitational 2023.
However, Team Liquid will be a team they continue to fear, as they became the most successful Brazilian team at a regional level with this victory.
In 2019, a 3-2 victory against FaZe Clan was followed by a loss to MIBR in 2020. A year later, Team Liquid redeemed themselves against Ninjas in Pyjamas to win 2021's edition. Now, despite finishing 17 points behind w7m esports in the regular BR6 standings, they have added a third BR6 championship to their trophy cabinet.

The Brasileirão wasn't the only regional competition that completed its season last weekend, though, as the Sudamericano Finals took place on Sunday in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Pampas, who were just one map away from qualifying for the Charlotte Major, defeated Leviatá in the semi-finals after winning the final map on maximum overtime. Malvinas Gaming themselves had made it to the grand-final after a one-sided victory against Furious Gaming.
Eventually, the Brazilian-majority roster of Malvinas Gaming won the final series of the competition by a 3-1 margin after three overtime maps. This marked Malvinas Gaming's second Campeonato Sudamericano trophy after winning the first edition in 2020.

Malvinas Gaming's players Matheus "KingSt4r" Fillipe, Vitor "Kurtz" Monteiro, and Pedro "naka" Nakasone have become the first Brazilian professionals to win South America's top-flight. Before this weekend, the only non-Argentinian player to have won the Sudamericano Finals was Jorge "shoxo" Figueroa, who won last year's edition with Furious Gaming.
