With the Esports World Cup semi-finals taking place later today in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, we have decided to have a look at today's matches. Here's everything you need to know about them!

Team Liquid vs. w7m esports

Team Liquid and w7m esports will clash in what will be the first semi-final match of the day in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

All the eyes will be set on Gabriel "Volpz" Fernandes and Gabriel "Maia" Maia as they will be playing against their former teammates, respectively. While Volpz signed for w7m esports alongside the rest of the former LOS core, Maia accepted Team Liquid's offer to play for the Blue Cavalry during Year 9.

Since the start of the current season, both teams have met three times. In the first game, w7m esports defeated Team Liquid on Oregon (7-3) in what was the end of Team Liquid's winless streak, as the Brazilians chained four defeats in a row at the start of the season. Eventually, in Manchester's Last Chance Qualifiers, Team Liquid knocked w7m esports out of the bracket with a 2-1 victory. Last but not least, the Bulls redeemed themselves with a 7-2 win at the Super Copa do Brasil.

Organization-wise, it's not looking great for Team Liquid. Arguably, w7m esports is the Blue Cavalry's worst opposition. Since June 2022, Team Liquid have only defeated the Bulls three times — out of a possible 16.

FURIA Esports vs. Team BDS

Last but not least, FURIA Esports and Team BDS will clash in the final match of the day. Both teams met in the BLAST R6 Major Manchester Swiss Stage, where the Black Panthers defeated the Europeans on Clubhouse.

While playing for w7m esports, the Brazilians met Team BDS five times. Although the current record includes two wins at Jönköping, one at the Six Invitational 2023, and one at the BLAST R6 Major Copenhagen, the Brazilians' only defeat against the Europeans came in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, last year.

On paper, this looks like the best game of the day. The current world champions FURIA Esports will try to dethrone the back-to-back Gamers8 champions Team BDS.

If the Black Panthers defeat the BLAST R6 Major Manchester grand finalists, Brazil will secure Rainbow Six Siege's Esports World Cup. Additionally, two things could happen next: a replay of the BLAST R6 Major Copenhagen grand final if Team Liquid wins against w7m esports, or an international re-encounter with their former home in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

However, if Team BDS defeat the Six Invitational 2024 champions, we could have a replay of the Six Jönköping Major grand final if Team Liquid defeat the Bulls first.
