Although Ubisoft has found recent success with the launch of Assassin's Creed: Shadows and the recently announced Rainbow Six Siege X update, it appears the developer is also cooking a new battle royale behind the scenes.

A new report from InsiderGaming states that Ubisoft is working on a new battle royale title "heavily inspired by Apex Legends." The project is currently known as "Scout" internally, and the report explains it has been in development for a couple of years.

The title will feature characters very similar to Pathfinder, Wraith, Lifeline, and other legends from the Respawn Entertainment game, but with a spin to make them feel unique.

One of the site's sources explains that this project will try "to capitalize on the player count of Apex dropping," making the higher-ups at Ubisoft believe there's room for another title of the same vibe.

Most battle royales are going through a renovation period, trying to gain the users they've been losing. Warzone is a prime example, as the game's original map, Verdansk, has been added back to tap into the nostalgia feeling.

EA has also mentioned in the past that they are planning to bring a huge update to revitalize the game, often referred to as Apex Legends 2.0. Only time will tell if the project will see the light of day and actually make an impact in the market.
