Believe it or not, the mid-season update for Overwatch 2 Season 18 drops this week, meaning we should be getting a new set of patch notes soon. This season will be shorter than usual, which is why the mid-season patch is dropping not long after the season started.
While we wait for the notes to come, here are a few confirmed details about the mid-season update, along with our expectations and predictions.
When does the Overwatch 2 Season 18 mid-season patch come out?
The Overwatch 2 Season 18 mid-season patch is scheduled to go live on Tuesday, September 16th, at 11:00 AM PT (7:00 PM BST). The update is already available to preload through the Battle.net launcher for all PC users. Meaning you won't have to downloading anything extra once the patch goes live.

Season 18 is expected to last for another four weeks after this update, ending on Tuesday, October 14th at the usual time.
What do we expect from the patch notes?
The patch notes should come out the same day the update goes live, but in the meantime, we can discuss a few of the things we expect from this mid-season update.
For starters, the update should add all the content related to the upcoming Persona 5 crossover event, which was teased at the end of the Season 18 trailer. We still don't know when the event is starting, but it should be available after the update drops or not long after.
The patch should also bring some hero adjustments both in normal playlists and Stadium. Balance changes are usually a part of big updates, and given that the patch at the start of Season 18 brought many new perks, there is room for some balancing there.
Quality-of-life features, UI improvements, and bug fixes are other additions we are expecting from this update. Once the patch notes are available, we will update this article to add all the information.
