Valorant's Patch 11.02 to buff Chamber, Trademark range restriction removed

It's a good day to be a Chamber main.

Valorant patches are really important to keep the game as healthy as possible. That's why, every two weeks, Riot Games releases an update with agent updates and bug fixes. While players can be more or less happy with the tweaks released, it's fair to say this is a great way to keep Valorant in a good state.

Yesterday, on July 29, Riot Games released the Patch Notes for 11.02. The update introduced some bug fixes that affected Astra, Gekko, Killjoy, Yoru, Cypher, and Phoenix, as well as bug fixes that affected the maps Corrode, Pearl, and Split. Surprisingly enough, Riot Games didn't mention the most important change in the patch.

With Patch 11.02, Valorant will buff Chamber as Riot Games decided to remove the Trademark's range restriction, according to Valorant's Agents and Live Product Manager, Tiffy. According to the leak by VALORANTLeaksEN, "this buff is to help him position more flexibly and help him solidify his role within the current state of Sentinels."

Chamber's Trademark is one of his two Basic Abilities. It basically allows Chamber to place a small, golden device on the floor, which scans for enemies. Once an enemy enters the gadget's range, the trap counts down and destabilizes the floor around the enemy, creating a surface that slows down players caught inside of it.

Logically, with this buff, the previously mentioned "range" won't exist anymore. This will allow Chamber to place the trap and then move as far as he wants from it, while the trap staying active. This is similar to Cypher, and makes him a better Sentinel, as other agents like Killjoy or Deadlock will still have range restrictions.

While it's hard to say if this buff will be enough to make him one of the best Sentinels in the game again, we expect his pick rate to improve. This change will give him more freedom when playing on the map, as he will be able to use his aggressive loadouts while having some cover in his back. However, we don't think he will steal Cypher's crown, at least not yet. Maybe, with some more buffs, he could. But today isn't the day yet.
