Following the conclusion of the VCT 2025 EMEA League grand finals, which saw Fnatic running over Team Heretics with a 3-0 win, Riot Games made a draw to decide the first set of group stage matches of the Valorant Masters Toronto.
After the conclusion of the draw, we now know that the first set of group stage games will include the following clashes:
- June 8: Gen.G Esports (Pacific 2nd) vs. MIBR (Americas 3rd)
- June 8: Bilibili Gaming (China 2nd) vs. Team Liquid (EMEA 3rd)
- June 9: Sentinels (Americas 2nd) vs. Wolves Esports (China 3rd)
- June 9: Team Heretics (EMEA 2nd) vs. Paper Rex (Pacific 3rd)
Here's a look at the four matches and what should we expect from each one of them:
Gen.G Esports vs. MIBR
The clash between Gen.G Esports and MIBR is arguably the toughest to guess out of the four. The Brazilians have experienced a growth during the past months after an underwhelming Kickoff. In Toronto, more is expected from the roster headed by Erick "aspas" Santos.
However, Gen.G Esports is a tough nut to crack. The Valorant Masters Shanghai champions are back to international heights after missing out on the Valorant Masters Bangkok and surely will do their best to get back on top. A win against the Brazilians would be a great first step.
Bilibili Gaming vs. Team Liquid
On paper, Team Liquid are the favorites to win the match against the Chinese side. Nevertheless, we can't ignore Bilibili Gaming's surprising form at the VCT 2025 China Stage 1, which included a 2-1 win against the current world champions EDward Gaming.
The team's first opposition will be Team Liquid, who finished in third place in the EMEA League 2025 Stage 1 after a 3-0 defeat against Team Heretics. The Blue Cavalry also qualified for the Valorant Masters Bangkok, but their performance was extremely underwhelming and finished at the bottom of the standings.
Sentinels vs. Wolves Esports
It's fair to say Wolves Esports are the tournament's main Cinderella despite the team's surprising results in the VCT 2025 China Stage 1.
Although they had a great playoff run, the pack couldn't reach the region's grand final after back-to-back 0-2 and 0-3 defeats against XLG Esports and Bilibili Gaming, respectively. Additionally, the team is already out of the Esports World Cup 2025 race after a surprising 1-2 defeat against Titan Esports.
Meanwhile, Sentinels are the favorites to win the game after their run at the VCT 2025 Americas Stage 1. The Valorant Masters Madrid champions only lost three matches, two of them coming against G2 Esports.
Team Heretics vs. Paper Rex
Last but not least, Team Heretics and Paper Rex will face in the final match of the Valorant Masters Swiss Stage Round 1.
The Europeans are the favorites to take the win after the team's form in their home region, which included a flawless group stage run and playoff wins against BBL Esports and Team Liquid. However, the team had two poor performances against Fnatic, as they lost by 0-2 and 0-3 scores.
Meanwhile, Paper Rex narrowly qualified for the Valorant Masters Toronto after a third-place finish in the VCT 2025 Pacific Stage 1. However, it's worth mentioning that the Asian roster knocked out the Valorant Masters Bangkok champions T1 of the VCT 2025 Pacific Stage 1.
