Riot surprised Valorant players with a short teaser about Agent 27, the next character arriving in the game. Shortly after that was released, a couple of leakers shared other details about this new agent on X (formerly Twitter).
As the year concludes and with patch 9.11 arriving soon, we expect more teasers. Here's everything we know so far about Valorant's new agent, including a potential release date, the agent's role, and their nationality!

Release date
Unfortunately, Riot Games hasn't unveiled the official release date for Valorant's new agent. However, there is a potential release date around the corner.
Valorant fans would probably have to wait until Episode 10 Act 1 to play the new agent. With Episode 9 Act 3's battle pass ending in 30 days, Episode 10 Act 1 should be deployed between January 9 and January 10. That's when Agent 27 could be released.
Agent 27's role
According to the ValorLeaks account on X, Valorant's new agent will be an Initiator. It will be the first Initiator released to the game since Gekko, added back in March 2023.
Throughout 2024, Riot Games has released two agents: Clove and Vyse. While Clove was released in March, Vyse was introduced to the free-to-play shooter in August.
Agent 27's abilities
Unfortunately, no information has been released about Valorant's new agent's abilities. However, there's a detail in the video that could prove to be important to understand the agent's abilities: the agent gets his sunglasses before jumping off the plane.
In other words, the sunglasses could be important for the agent's loadout. Maybe they allow Agent 27 to see through smokes? Maybe they prevent him from getting flashed?
As of now, Valorant includes six Initiators. All of them except Fade and Sova can flash the enemies. With flashing utilities being so common among Initiators, a pair of sunglasses that give the agent an advantage against smokes and flashes doesn't sound so unreal.
Agent 27's nationality
While Agent 27's nationality hasn't been officially confirmed yet, the leaks revealed that Valorant's new agent will be Colombian.
This confirmation makes sense if we pay attention to the details included in the teaser. Firstly, the Valorant's official video is followed by the message "¿quiubo, VALORANT?" which means "What's up, VALORANT?" in Spanish, the official language spoken in Colombia.
Secondly, in the teaser, we can see Valorant's new agent having some coffee. For those unaware, Colombia is one of the top countries in coffee production.
Last but not least, next to the coffee, there seems to be an Arepa, a traditional dish in countries like Venezuela and Colombia. All in all, it's hard to not believe the leakers' information.
