Fans of STALKER 2 are preparing themselves for the game’s insane difficulty. The original STALKER was known for its ridiculous challenge levels and this sequel will live up to that. Now that the game will be readily available, newer players are curious about how hard this game can be.
It’s been a long wait for this sequel. Players will remember how the first game came out in 2007, though it was recently released for modern systems. Based on interviews with the developers, it seems that this sequel is going to be even more difficult than ever.
STALKER 2 difficulty levels
Rookie
Gamers who just want to experience the story of STALKER 2 should stick with the “Rookie” difficulty. While this will likely be difficult compared to other games, those who don’t like the survival aspects can pick this mode. Hardcore players will argue that anyone interested in this game wants a difficult experience, but all fans are different.
Considering how the game’s survival and environmental mechanics have been marketed, picking “Rookie” might feel wrong. At the least, gamers who don’t jive with this shooter can just go through the story and be done with it. Plus, if they do enjoy the experience, they might pick the harder difficulties after.
Stalker
This is considered the normal difficulty for STALKER 2. Players who want a challenge will be more than happy with this mode, as the developers have said this is going to be harder than most games.
In an interview with Windows Central, developer GSC Game World said the following: "At release, we'll have three difficulties, but at "normal" difficulty, the game is already tuned to be really difficult. We have an even higher difficulty mode that doesn't just make the gameplay more difficult, but also strips back HUD and UI elements."
Veteran
As stated earlier, “Veteran” is going to be the most hardcore difficulty of STALKER 2 on release. Not only will the game have more challenging battles than the previous modes, but the HUD and UI elements will be completely removed. Many players feel this will be the definitive way to play STALKER 2.
Without the HUD and UI elements, players will have to rely on their wits and adaptability to survive. Players will need to conserve ammo, find materials to live, and try not to take as much damage. It’s not going to be an easy experience for anyone, but those who thrive on a challenge will enjoy this.
