Splitgate 2, launched with several new game modes, has received a great public response. If you have also been spending your time in Splitgate 2 modes like Arena or Onslaught, you may have wondered if the game supports custom maps.
Thanks to the developers of Splitgate 2, as it does support custom maps. 1047 Games stated that their team took inspiration from Unreal Engine and Halo's Forge, as it would be fun to make something really cool with your friends.
So, if you are trying to play something original or just jump into something wild and unexpected, here's how you can create custom maps in Splitgate 2.
How to play custom maps in Splitgate 2?
To play a custom map in Splitgate 2, you will first need to create a lobby. These are the steps to do that:
- Launch Splitgate 2 and enter the main menu.
- Click on Play to go to the playlist selection screen.
- Here, scroll down and click on The Lab.

- The Project Browser screen will now open; click on Create a Map.
- Next, type in a name for your project and click on Confirm.

- Now, select a blank template on the next screen, and your project will be saved under My Projects.

- Click on your created project, select Region, Players, and Privacy, and click Create Lobby.

- Once the lobby has been created, click on Play.
The blank canvas will now open; use the available tools, including scalable geometric shapes, SSL map items, environmental props, and gameplay objects, to customize your layout via the drag-and-drop functionality and spatial controls.
Next, test the created custom maps with up to 16 players to check if everything is working as expected.

Once done, Save and Publish your project so other players can discover and play your map.
Currently, there are only four blank templates available in The Lab. But as more players dive in, we can expect the number of maps and features to grow, as 1047 Games is planning to support this mode for a long time based on the community feedback.
