Siege Event Packs to only be purchasable with R6 Credits starting in Year 11 Season 3

The community has already expressed their thoughts about it.

Siege Event Packs

Ubisoft have revealed today that Rainbow Six Siege Event Packs, released during time-limited events such as Rainbow is Magic, MUTE Protocol, or Doktor's Curse, will only be purchasable with R6 Credits starting in Year 11 Season 3.

Operation System Override's MUTE Protocol and Rengoku will be the last time-limited events where players will be able to puchase Event Packs with Renown.

This decision is a controversial one. Until today, players who have plenty of hours played in the game and who have already unlocked all operators and most of bundles in the shop used to save all their Renown to unlock most of the Event Packs, which bring cool, unique, and exclusive skins to the game. This would also make it easier and cheaper for them to unlock the Memento Weapon skin.

"Starting in Season 3, new event packs will transition to R6 Credits only. M.U.T.E. Protocol: Flesh & Metal and Rengoku will be the final events where new collection packs can be purchased with Renown. Older collections will, however, return with dual-currency options, creating more opportunities to spend Renown and keeping it meaningful and more rewarding over time. - Rainbow Six Siege's official statement."

Starting from Year 11 Season 3, according to Rainbow Six Siege's statement released today, "you’ll be able to purchase the Masterpiece directly with R6 Credits and it will include event packs." Still, the price for future Memento Weapon skins hasn't been announced yet.

The official tweet was released today at 5 PM CEST. Since then, the post has already gathered over 300 replies, most of them complaining about the decision.

Most of the comments agree with something: Renown has no value right now. Others say that this decision makes time-limited events less accessible for players.

We expect more comments from big content creators and other players in the upcoming hours. We will update this article with more of them as the days go by.
