Riot Games has revealed the team's plan to add Multi-Factor Authentication in Valorant. This system is already a crucial part of League of Legends, and it will be released to Valorant's shooter before the end of the year.

According to Riot Games, the Multi-Factor Authentication process will require some kind of verification through a specific app or SMS. Although this is primarily thought for suspicious cases, the idea is to introduce this system for all Competitive accounts.

Riot Games' goal behind the addition of Multi-Factor Authentication is having a better idea of who is playing on an account. Riot's intention is to add this method sometime this year.

Additionally, Riot Games has also got plans to add more visibility into players' behavior in Valorant. Players will be able to see any active warnings or penalties, alongside information about where to improve to avoid getting punished in the future.

What is Multi-Factor Authentication?

Multi-Factor Authentication is a security measure that requires multiple forms of verification. When a Multi-Factor Authentication system is added to a video game, players usually have to log in with their username and password, and then introduce a code sent to their associated email.

For instance, as previously mentioned, Riot Games' League of Legends requires Multi-Factor Authentication. When logging in, players must introduce a six-digit code sent to either their email account or their Riot Mobile app. This makes it easier to make sure the person playing is really who they claim to be, and it also makes it harder for players to use smurf accounts.

When will Riot Games release Multi-Factor Authentication to Valorant?

While the idea is to release Multi-Factor Authentication to Valorant this year, Riot Games have yet to unveil a date. However, as the team has already revealed their intentions, we expect it to be deployed sooner than later. Moreover, considering this system isn't a mystery to Riot's fans, its implementation shouldn't be difficult.

Does Multi-Factor Authentication work?

Multi-Factor Authentication is an authentication system that's well accepted in the gaming community. However, some players believe Multi-Factor Authentication is weak, as the code can easily be shared. Many players would prefer to use verification through SMS, which would logically require each account to have its own cellphone number.

Be as it may, Multi-Factor Authentication is a method that has proved to be effective, and it's should be welcomed with open arms in the Valorant community.
