Now that most of the Season 16 content is out, players can start looking forward to Season 17 of Overwatch 2. Thanks to the reveals during the Spotlight event back in February, we have a pretty good idea of what's coming to the game this time.
While we wait for more reveals and announcements about this upcoming season, here is everything we know about the new additions.
When does Overwatch 2 Season 17 start?
Overwatch 2 Season 17 is scheduled to start on Tuesday, June 17th at 11:00 AM PT (7:00 PM BST). The new content will be added through a new update that PC players will be able to preload days in advance.
Barring any changes or delays, the season will run for exactly eight weeks, with a mid-season patch arriving in the middle to add the second half of content.
New map, reworks, voting
The season brings a brand-new Flashpoint map called Aatlis, meaning the game mode will now have three maps. On top of that, several map reworks are coming in this season.
Aaron Keller mentioned that both Suravasa and New Junk City, the two Flashpoint launch maps, will receive reworks. Given that the roadmap mentions map reworks for this season, we expect those two maps to be part of them.
Another great addition already confirmed is map voting. This will only be implemented in the Competitive playlist, and players will be able to decide which map to play on.
Cosmetics
D.Va will be the star this season as she will be getting the Mythic skin. The following concept art gives us an idea of what it will look like while we wait for the first in-game look:

On the other hand, Reaper will be getting a mythic weapon this time, and here is the respective concept art, showing us the different stages the shotguns will have:

Apart from the two mythics, it remains unclear what theme this season will adopt and how will the other traditional cosmetics will be.
Other details
Here are other details we know about this season, so you don't overlook anything and stay up to date:

- With hero number 44 scheduled to come out in Season 18, a trial period will take place during this season to give players a chance to test him. The character is currently known as Aqua, but this won't be his final name.
- The OWCS midseason championship will take place during this season, meaning we can expect content around that.
- The Summer Games event is set to return during this season.
We will update this article once new information about the upcoming season's content gets teased or revealed in the following days.
