On September 19, the British caster and commentator Miles "MilesTheRoss" Ross announced that Activision let him go as a consequence of Microsoft's most recent layoff wave, according to a post on his personal X account.
Although his post mentioned that the layoffs also affected more CDL team members, their names haven't been mentioned.
The 35-year-old is one of the community's leading faces and has been the voice of multiple international COD competitions, with the Call of Duty League Championship 2024 and the Esports World Cup being his most recent appearances.
As his exclusivity with Call of Duty has ended, the caster is now open to accepting offers for working alongside different titles. His post has already been flooded with comments from fans and fellow casters who are encouraging him to explore his options, including Valorant, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, and many more FPS titles.
With the Valorant esports scene heading to its longest off-season of the year, as the next competitive season won't kick off until 2025, Miles Ross could have enough time to invest himself in learning the game before the top flights are back. Another shooter in a similar situation is Apex Legends, whose next top-flight international competition will be held from January 28 to February 2.
