The Spring Festival is starting soon as the first Season 1 event in Marvel Rivals. Patch 20250122 was just released to prepare the title for the event and add all the new content to the in-game files.
As we wait for the festival to kick off, here is a summary of all the new content coming, from a limited-time game mode to new themed cosmetics like skins.
Release date
The Spring Festival event for Marvel Rivals is starting on Thursday, January 23 at 1:00 am PT (9:00 am GMT). The event will remain active for three weeks, ending on February 14 at the same time.

New mode: Clash of Dancing Lions
One of the biggest additions from the event is a new limited-time game mode called Clash of Dancing Lions. While the name might be a bit vague, this is basically Rivals' take on Rocket League.
Three-player teams will face off in a football match, which will take place on a special map called Wakanda's World Arena. This map recreates the traditional layout of a Rocket League arena as you can see in the image below:
Only Black Widow, Iron Fist, and Star-Lord can be used in this mode, meaning players will have to select one of them before a match.
Skins and cosmetics
As expected, the festival is set to introduce several cosmetics inspired by Chinese culture. They are not snake-themed however, instead, most of them are based on Dragons and Lions.
Three new skins have been revealed and here are all the important details about each one:
- Star-Lord (Lion's Mane): Free skin all players who sign into the game during the event will receive.
- Black Widow (Lion's Heartbeat): Skin only available through the in-game shop throughout the event.
- Iron Fist (Lion's Gaze): Skin only available through the in-game shop throughout the event.
The event will include other minor cosmetics like the "Blessing Lion" nameplate. On top of that, during the event you will earn Danqing, a magical dye you can use to fill a special illustration.
Once that illustration is full, you will receive a Gallery Card as a memento for having participated.
