Although Season 1.5 was released not long ago, Marvel Rivals players probably wonder what's coming with Season 2. The hero shooter had a strong start in its post-launch cycle, adding the Fantastic Four and two maps among other things during Season 1.
Now that the next season is on the horizon, we have gathered all the rumors and speculations around it while we wait for more information from official sources.
Release date
Given that battle passes don't expire on Marvel Rivals, there is no way to know when Season 2 is kicking off. However, with NetEase promising a new hero every 45 days, we can assume that the new season is expected to begin in April 2025 as the Human Torch and The Thing were added on February 21st.
Hellfire Gala?
NetEase has apparently started to tease next season's theme as the latest in-game message expands on the game's lore and ends with the sentence "Now, if you will excuse me, Doom has a gala to attend..."
Many have started speculating that this is a clear indication that the Marvel villain is attending the Hellfire Gala. For those who are lost, this is an annual celebration in Marvel Comics where mutants gather to select a new X-Men team, with the attendees wearing extravagant outfits.

Some dataminers in Reddit also shared a banner for the Hellfire Club that was found in the game's files, indicating that this is indeed a teaser for the Hellfire Gala.
New characters
One thing clear about the new season is that new heroes (or villains) will be added to the roster of playable characters. There have been a great number of leaks indicating that NetEase is already developing many characters in the background.
However, with the tease of the Hellfire Gala theme, we believe that the start of the season could bring new mutant characters. Cyclops, Emma Frost, and Jean Grey are among the possible candidates.
Other possible characters are Blade and Ultron, since there's an image of the former one already in the game and the abilities for the latter have already been leaked.
We won't know for sure who's getting added or not until we get close to Season 2's start, so all we have to do for now is wait.
