NetEase Games shocked players everywhere when they announced that the Marvel Rivals' battle pass would never expire. This is a huge change, considering how most live-service shooters time their passes. It will be interesting to see if this announcement causes a ripple effect and inspires other games.

During the game’s latest dev diary update, it was confirmed that fans who purchase the Luxury Battle Pass can complete it on their own time. Even when future battle passes come out, fans who bought the pass will keep it and can progress as quickly or slowly as they please.

It is worth noting that the Marvel Rivals' battle pass mentioned is the paid version. The free version might expire but that hasn’t been confirmed yet. While that would be disappointing, it’s good to know fans who spend on battle passes will never waste their money.

Since the game will launch as the month-long Season 0, this pass will have half of the content a normal battle pass will contain. The first Luxury Battle Pass will cost 490 Lattices, which is around $5, so fans could spend up to $10 on each pass starting with Season 1.

Beyond the Marvel Rivals battle pass news, NetEase also confirmed that fans will have to pay for cosmetics through the in-game store. Luckily, these costumes are only visual and won’t have an impact on gameplay. Whether fans prefer an original stylized outfit, something based on the MCU, or a comic book original, none of these will have an in-game advantage.

That’s everything we know about the anti-FOMO Marvel Rivals battle pass thus far. For more on the free-to-play shooter, fans can read about the Season 0 Battle Pass skins revealed. You can also read everything we know about this short Season so far.
