Fnatic have taken Paper Rex down in the Valorant Esports World Cup after a 2-1 win in the competition's quarterfinals. Despite losing the first map of the series, the European mix completed an unexpected comeback after back-to-back one sided victories.
Paper Rex had a sweet start to the series with a 13-10 win on Sunset. The Pacific roster found no complications to close out the first map as there was no time the team was seen behind on the scoreline, eventually building a six-round lead. Although Fnatic managed to win four back-to-back attacks, the Valorant Masters Toronto champions took the first pick after a strong performance.
However, Fnatic had something else in mind. After the team's initial loss, the European mix surprised everyone in the arena with a 13-3 win on Ascent, their map pick, to send the series to a third map. Finally, Fnatic ended up demolishing Paper Rex with a 13-8 on Split after an outstanding performance by Kajetan "kaajak" Haremski, who finished the map with an ACS of 361 and 29 kills to his name.
With this result, Fnatic have redeemed themselves less than one month after losing to Paper Rex in the Valorant Masters Toronto grand finals. Tomorrow, the VCT 2025 EMEA Stage 1 winners will have a chance to become Valorant Esports World Cup champions as they will play against the victorious side of the series between Gen.G Esports and their region archenemies Team Heretics.
