Evil Geniuses has announced their decision to cease operations on November 2, 2026. The decision was announced tonight in a statement by the organization's CEO, Chris DeAppolonio, released on Evil Geniuses' official X account.
As the statement reads, "EG will wind down operations in an orderly way and work closely with every affected player, coach, and staff member."
Evil Geniuses had been mostly active on VALORANT's esports scene, as they were one of Riot's Partners in VCT Americas. As a Partner team, Evil Geniuses had access to multiple economical benefits, including their own esports skin as well as a share of the yearly VALORANT Champions Bundle—which made over USD$50M in this year's edition, played in Shanghai, China, earlier this month.
The news of Evil Geniuses ceasing operations comes a few days after knowing the esports organization won't be a part of Riot's Partner program for VCT Americas 2027.
In Rainbow Six Siege, Evil Geniuses had been part of Ubisoft's esports ecosystem between November 2017 and April 2020. The American esports powerhouse was one of the main faces in Rainbow Six Siege's early days, stablishing a fierce rivalry with PENTA Sports.
The brand first joined the scene after picking up the Six Invitational 2027 champions, Continuum. One year later, they reached the Six Invitational 2018 grand final, where they fell against PENTA Sports after the Europeans completed one of the game's most historical comebacks.
Six months later, Evil Geniuses fell again against PENTA Sports, this time at the Six Paris Major. They would reach another international grand final next year, as they lost to Team Empire at the PL Season 9 Finals played in Milano, Italy. The Americans featured in multiple Six Invitational and Major editions, as well as Minor international events.
Although Evil Geniuses never won an international championship in Rainbow Six Siege, the Americans were seen as Europe's archenemies. For years, the team led by Troy "Canadian" Jaroslawski was a pivotal part of the circuit, especially in terms of storytelling.
People in Rainbow Six Siege's community have already left their thoughts about Evil Geniuses' decision, mainly praising the organization's efforts and legacy in the game's history.
