Destiny Rising has officially been revealed. Developed by NetEase, this will be a free-to-play mobile shooter set in an alternate timeline of the one seen in Bungie's original game.

With a gameplay trailer and a developer preview video dropping on October 14, fans got a big glimpse into what they can expect from Destiny Rising. NetEase will move away from some key elements while introducing new ones.

The biggest one is that Destiny Rising will be set before this timeline's version of the Guardians and Vanguard is created. Players will be able to pick unique heroes that have their distinct personalities rather than being a create-a-character type.

Furthermore, NetEase is taking creative freedoms with weapons too. Yes, some fan favorites will return, but you can expect brand-new ones as well. That's not all, as Mythic weapons will be introduced, a rarity above Exotics, which have long stood as Destiny's best and more unique weapons.

Players in the United States and Canada are already able to pre-register for an upcoming Closed Alpha Test later this year. No details about other regions were shared.

Similarly, you'll get to explore and even play as some beloved characters from the Destiny universe. Namely, players were able to spot Ikora Rey, Iron Lord Jolder, and Kabr, the legendary Titan that became obsessed with the Vault of Glass, known as the first raid in Destiny's history as a franchise.

NetEase plans to create Destiny Rising with both newcomers and franchise veterans in mind. For the former, they'll be able to dip their toes into the lore and gameplay Destiny offers. For the latter, they can explore a different period to what they've come to experience these past 10 years.

And that's pretty much it. For more on all things related to Destiny, check out the Power Level guide for Episode: Revenant.
