Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is just around the corner and anticipation is growing fast. The multiplayer beta gave players a first taste of the new maps, weapons, and the all-new omnimovement mechanic, only adding to the hype around the new game.
As the first CoD title to launch since Xbox acquired Activision Blizzard, this year's game is a landmark moment for the franchise.
Black Ops 6 release date
Treyarch has confirmed Black Ops 6 will launch on October 25th, 2024. This is slightly earlier than previous years but continues the trend of Black Ops games launching earlier than their Modern Warfare counterparts.
Unlike recent releases, Black Ops 6 will not feature an early access period. This means every player will have to wait until that day to enjoy the title, regardless of the version they pre-ordered.
Black Ops 6 is available on PS5 & Xbox Series X|S as well as PS4 and Xbox One. It is also available on PC via Steam, Battle.net, and the Xbox App.
For the first time ever, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to play Call of Duty Black Ops 6 from day one for no additional cost.
Black Ops 6 pre-orders
Pre-orders for Black Ops 6 are live, giving players plenty of time to purchase the game ahead of launch. Pre-ordering offers a range of benefits including access to challenges that unlock the Woods Operator and access to the beta.

Black Ops 6 campaign
Set in the early 1990s, the game brings back Frank Woods, who is now working with a new prodigy called Troy Marshall to uncover some secret conspiracies going on in the CIA.
The story will also feature other Black Ops characters like Russell Adler, who was introduced in the Black Ops Cold War campaign. In case you haven't seen it, here is one of the campaign missions shown during the Gamescom Opening Night Live presentation:
Black Ops 6 multiplayer
There is huge buzz around the Black Ops 6 multiplayer thanks to the addition of a feature called "omnimovement". This brings a new layer that wasn't present in previous titles, allowing for more precise control of every action.
The launch weapons will be an arsenal inspired by real guns from the 90s and some experimental ones like a light machine gun with the body of an M16.
In terms of maps, Treyarch has confirmed the game will feature mostly small to medium maps. Here is the multiplayer trailer that was released before the start of the beta:
It has also been confirmed that Nuke Town will arrive in a post-launch update.

Black Ops 6 Zombies
The Dark Aether storyline is set to continue with this new installment of Black Ops zombies. The game brings two new maps at launch: Terminus and Liberty Falls.
Terminus takes place in a remote prison located on an island where we will find our Requiem crew after they were betrayed by Edward Richtofen, who was pulling the strings behind the scenes at the CIA during the events of Cold War Zombies.
Liberty Falls takes place in a city in West Virginia where Project Janus, a secret project led by Richtofen with an unknown objective, was taking place. However, a zombie outbreak occurred at the place, apparently caused by Samantha Maxis, and now a team is sent to clean up the mess.
